going back to a simpler time in life...your first ride?

since I've been in the middle east a majority of the last 3 years, I tend to think back from time to time about some easier and earlier years in my life. granted I'm only 27 now but 11 years ago when I got my first car, a 1994 black $2500 v6 camaro, I was estatic and thought I was hot s*** but didn't have a care in the world as long as I had some gas money and my friends to hit the streets with.

just curious to what yalls first vehicle was and if you have a pic then post it up!

1st car-Nova...phones didnt have cameras back then and cameras werent digital. So no I dont have any pics lol

Smashed a couple fences and trees with her, did alot of stupid things alcohol related and learned quickly I needed to knock it off.

So instead saved up some money and bought this bike when I was 18.

Learned how to not wheelie on the thing after flipping it 3 times into someones yard during homecoming weekend.

The stupid things I did back then bc I thought I was a bada**! Lol

I had bikes before cars!! First was a 1985 Honda Nighthawk S is 1990. Then when that got hit and totaled(when parked) I bought a 1992 Yami FZR like the one above. Didn't buy my fist car till i was on active duty in 94 but always had bikes up untill I had kids!!

Thanks for you service, man!!! I was medically retired in 03 after lots of time in the sand!!

My first car was a 1991 Honda Civic CX. Would you believe we bought it brand new for $6700. Came with no stereo and no passenger side mirror... This pic wasn't mine, but exactly the same. I thought this thing was the $hit!!!!! Ha ha....

My first car was a 15 year old 1981 Honda Prelude. Picked her up for $400. What a POS it was. Had it painted and reupholstered down in TJ. After the paint job it look a lot like this one.

Got married and had kids, so had to give up the car habit. Wish I had them now....

Gatorboy, how's that work situation?

stephan 10-11-2012 8:41 AM

I'm secure enough to tell you chaps that my first car was a 1981 VW Rabbit Convertible. It was special. Our neighbor was a VW mechanic and the car was in great shape for being as old as me (17). There was a lot of so-cal beach cruising in that bad boy. A couple years later I decided to roll her off a cliff and she was never the same. Ahh the simpler times...

1992 Chevrolet Beretta 3.1 5spd. Hence the login name. Ran 16.164 in the 1/4 mile. Lasted me 5 years of constant abuse.

Wish I had pictures, 12 year old 1985 VW GTI, a little of the car was still red but a majority was turning a rusty orange. The interior was a mess and it was a manual, which I had never driven. My dad picked me up from work in it and made me drive home. I still remember being stuck at a light for three full green lights because I couldn't get the clutch to engage! That car was indestructible, can't believe it survived all the stuff my friends and I did to it. I've been looking for one to fix up and restore for a while now, was super fun to drive

First car was my 1999 Mustang, Still have it. Then got my 05 silverado (traded it 5 months ago for the 02 f-350) and also bought the 01 IS300... The only one not in my fleet of cars is the silverado lol

77 Buick Skylark--my first car in 1994. Owned by my grandfather first, then my mom, then me. Total hooptie, but it was better than walking. I upgraded to an 89 Camaro RS the next year.

Great thread. Makes you really think about things.

Everything has changed for me too! Married, business, 4 kids and a LOT more responsibility and stress. It's all worth it but you do miss the simple days.

The 1st car that I bought was a used and abused Silver 1984 VW Rabbit GTI. (a crappier version than the pic) I loved that thing. It had some problems and some rust but I thought it was bad ass! It felt quick and nimble (haha) and got amazing gas mileage. Although back then gas was only like $1.25 a gallon. $10 bucks would pretty much fill the tank. Unreal huh?!

Fast forward 20 years and at least 20 different cars and trucks. After lot's of blood, sweat and tears...Now i'm lucky enough to be driving the car that was hanging on my wall as a kid. (well a newer version of it) I wouldn't change a thing but it's fun to look back a see how far you have come and how much has changed. :D

My first car was this 03' dodge ram and it still is mine. Im only 21 but before I get flamed. I just want to admit that I am very fortunate to have gotten it. Am I spoiled? not a chance. First, it was my uncles truck before hand so we got it dirt cheap. I turned 15 and started working at his company saving up as much as I could, then my parents paid the rest. Every since day one, I paid for the gas and registration and everything else on it. I worked and saved up for the stereo and the wheels and tires. I am very fortunate though. Its still my only car and has no problems.

My first car was an NSU like this one. I was 14 and kinda forgot to tell my folks that I bought it.. That didn't work out as well as I thought.
My second car was not running when I got it and never did. Push button automatic and that beautiful horse collar grill that was so loved by all on the Edsel that looked like this one.
I guess I should have noticed how things were going as I have had many others that are even stranger.

I saw this exact bike go off the road at 120mph when I was 19. I was on my CBR600 and my friend drifted off a corner at 120. Freaking insane to see. He walked away with a few broken bones in his hand. The bike however was turned into confetti.

2004 Monte Carlo next to the Lexus I beg every day to borrow! Only 16 so I never got to experience the VW Beetle era, and no bikes for me. Love my car though! Fast (enough) and the biggest car we could find as to protect me in the event of a crash (a so far so good 10 months of driving!)

bryce2320 10-11-2012 6:30 PM

My first truck was a 99 v8 half ton, I was 14 and working for my dad so he picked it up for 3500. Than I bought a 16k 3/4 dodge cummins. Than 2 years ago I started make a lot more money than when I was working for my dad and bought the 08 dodge cummins one ton that I still have. I just turned 21 so it all kind of happened pretty quick and Ive been fortunate so far. I than deleted, tuned, put rock stars and 35s on it and am kind of happy with it now :D

First car - 1984 Renault Alliance. 1.3L of fuel injected fury...and that is back in the day when fuel injection = less power. Somehow this car was Motor Trend's 1983 car of the year - proof that anyone working at for Motor Trend at that time was an idiot. As base as they sold them, that car had no power in any gear. Bought her in 1995, had it for a few months until the tranny went. Hated the car, but my parents have never helped me with any of my vehicles (be it gas, upkeep, insurance, etc.). Here is a pic one one similar:
http://www.classiceuropeancarclub.com/Alliance-10.jpg

Luckily I upgraded to a 1986 Honda CRX Si, which was pretty cool at the time. Lasted me into college, had someone hit me and made almost enough cash from the hit to cover what I paid for it but it was only some cosmetic damage, so I drove it until upgrading to a 1992 Camaro RS. Mine looked exactly like this one:

Loved this car! 1967 Ford Mustang 289ci 4bbl. Bought her in 1986 out of a Publix parking lot for $1,800. All she needed was a compound and wax.

1987 Ford Bronco 2. Five speed manual. Very unsafe but super fun truck to rip around in. If I had owned it in 1987 I probably would have been pretty damn cool but I owned it in the early 2000's and I was just a kid in a super 80's looking truck. HA!!

I remember driving home from high school after an early release because of snow. I had offered a cute girl a ride home. On the way I skidded into a snow bank and got stuck. Had to get out, dig through the snow bank and engage the manual hubs on the front wheels to get into 4WD. She thought I was pretty weird after that.
