New setup for 13 yr old beginner?

My son is currently on a 125 State and has outgrown his boots. He will need a men's 7 boot and weighs 80# today, his current board is the older 8.0" spacing, so new boots would fit, but I would need adapters or just deal with on position on the deck.

Would a 130 be too big while he's still learning? He is a beginner, but has good edging skills and is starting to jump one wake.

thanks,

My 13 year old boy is pretty good, goes into the flats and a few grabs, working on his rolls and spins. He is also about 80 lbs, maybe a bit more. He went from a 120 Vision into the 130 BILL with Cells this year and absolutely loves it. I figure he has another 25 lbs on this board then his Lil Bro gets it.
IMO a 130 is perfect for your boy. The new boards are also much lighter and that seems to help allot. Evo has '13 stuff for really good deals. Thats where I got his.

130 shouldn't be too big. It will help him get extra pop and provide softer landings as well as allow him to keep it for at least a few years. Check out it the LF Watson Classic. It's a great shape and would be perfect for his skill level!
