Hs fs 180
 

I'm 16 and wakeboard on my friends Supra Launch when I get the chance. I've really been getting into wakeboarding this summer and just bought my own board and love it. One of the first tricks I've been told to learn is a HS FS 180. I can get wake to wake and get the board to the switch position but I can never ride away from the landing. I always fall foreword. I didn't know if I'm missing a key thing that will help me ride away from the seemingly simple trick

What do you mean by falling foreword? If you mean digging the nose of the board in, then try shifting your weight towards your back foot and land with more weight on the back. Landing with too much weight on your front foot could cause the nose to go under. If you mean falling over the toeside edge, then you probably aren't rotating enough. Make sure you turn the board a full 180 degrees. The nose should not be facing the boat when you land.

That's great man that you got it, but don't feel like you have to go and learn a flip as soon as possible. If you work on grabs and small spins, poking and tweaking them as much as possible, you'll have a much stronger base with which to progress onto more technical tricks, as well as better edge control, and you'll stand out as a rider much more as its usually something people leave until they can do a bunch of flips.
Where I ride, there's a group of 4/5 guys who are all roughly the same level but all they do basic inverts, learning them and then not making the tricks their own, so no one ever stands out really. I'd much rather hear one of them say they did a tail poke to fakie than a scarecrow.

Not at all I completely get what you mean. Before I saw this I was starting to learn the basic drills and steps to learn the backroll and i got all of it down until it came to wake to wake and I couldn't hold on long enough to land it and ride away and I felt like that's just the inexperienced wakeborder in me so I need to go back to other things and get comfortable before I throw that. I'll definitely check out that link, thanks!

Go for a nose grab on your HS FS 180 next. I think it's a great feeling trick and a fairly natural next step after learning HS FS 180.
