New 7D!

So stoked this week as my new Canon 7D is suppose to arrive. I am making the switch up from a Nikon D5100. It was time to make the investment and step up the game a bit. My biggest need was just a faster camera as I've been getting in to shooting motocross lately. I know it isnt the hottest camera in the world right now, but I'm pretty stoked about 8 shots per second!

What are you guys working with??

Ive got a t2i with a canon 24-105 f/4, 50 f/1.8, and a tokina 11-16 f/2.8. Just getting into the hobby...congrats on the new camera

The 7D is a great action sports camera, your going to love it! Combo it with a 70-200 2.8 L and your good to go:D My only complant is it's a bit on the noisy side with ISO over 800.

Congrats and enjoy.

I cant wait to hear your review after using it a bit. I've been building my lens collection and plan on a 7D next year. I picked up a 70-200 2.8L. Great lens - I use it for sports. But I'm going to get a 2x teleconverter because it doesn't get close enough. Downside, I will loose a couple of stops doing that.

Well, I've probably put 3,000 cycles on her already. Its REAL easy to push through sequence shots with this thing firing on high speed. LOL I couldnt be more impressed with the camera itself. I purchased two lenses - the 18-135mm and the 70-300 kit style (4-5.6)stuff because its all I could swing right now. I'll rent for events. I'd have to say that I am not so impressed with the 18-135 overall, and have not shot much with the 70-300 just yet. I gave up a little bit of lens power when I sold my Nikon stuff, but the camera is worlds above.

My only complaint so far is knowing I need to calm down on the trigger when shooting some of these events so I dont have so many shots to weed through. QUALITY over splattering crap on a wall is going to have to be my focus.

I plan on shooting with the 70-200 2.8L at a moto event on December 1st. I'll get to see her full potential then and report back.

BTW, its been managing the noise pretty well thus far. Just remember what I moved up from though. LOL I have shot some stuff at 1000 or higher and pulled decent results.

the 70-200IS 2.8 L is probably the best lens "investment" i have made. i bought the gen 1 several years ago and i can't imagine how may shots i've taken with it. the amazing thing is that if you ever have to sell it, you'll get a large percentage of your money back.
