Another interesting tower

Saw this on the local craigslist... hmmm... a little strange looking to say the least

jamespjackson95 02-25-2015 12:47 PM

That tower is to big for that boat IMO

jhartt3 02-25-2015 1:31 PM

i dont think its too bad. little weird could swoop forward a bit more and be 5inches lower but its not terrible

xstarrider 02-25-2015 1:47 PM

I disagree. That thing is absolutely terrible. Geezus. How can people wreck such classic ski/wakeboats with crap towers. Just because someone makes it doesn't mean you should buy it.

Expedite03 02-25-2015 3:04 PM

Looks like a late 80s basketball goal. Just take the rim and backboard off, and you've got a tower!

boardman74 02-25-2015 3:07 PM

I agree with Swat..terrible. Shape is Ugly and to high for the boat.

501s 02-25-2015 5:14 PM

Ya, that's hideous. I have to agree. Tough to find a worse looking tower on that boat.

sambo13 02-25-2015 9:16 PM

I really want to know the thought process behind this one. http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/boa/4902015991.html

xstarrider 02-26-2015 1:57 AM

Oh man. Just when you think it can't get worse. That poor BF Nautique

brycejb328 02-26-2015 4:22 AM

I think it's safe to say that any of the Classic ski boats are not meant to have forward sweeping towers.

grant_west 02-26-2015 5:08 AM

It's great for everyone to have a diffrent opinion but some things we should all agree on hands down that's a ULGY ULGY looking tower and the guy has wrecked that boat, same with the other link to the Nautique. That tower is a close 3rd or 4th in the ULGY tower contest.
. That malibu would be a great canidit for a $900 monster tower.

Bakes 02-26-2015 8:58 PM

The samson blade has looked pretty decent on some of the 'classic' boats.

tripsw 02-26-2015 9:45 PM

OMG.
Both worth more money without the towers.

02-27-2015 11:35 AM

Thanks for posting a picture of my boat. My son and I purchased the tower and did a father and son install project. Man that brings back great memories we had working on that boat. God rest his soul he has passed on to a much better place. I am lonely without him and these types of projects to take on together.

NoNceNse 03-04-2015 8:20 AM

Well this post just turned dark : (

I kind of like the black version mounted on the sides of the boat so it doesn't sit so high

Redheadd 03-04-2015 9:34 AM

Wow! Sorry for your loss brother.

phathom 03-04-2015 9:54 AM

The tower on that Tahoe isn't bad.
On that Malibu, you know they were definitely thinking about getting a tower, and also about head clearance since it's so damn high. It doesn't look good, but they probably had a practical purpose for it, like the owner is 6'6 or something

R.I.P. Ski Nautique...

john211 03-04-2015 1:41 PM

"God rest his soul he has passed on to a much better place."

Five years ago, the wrath of WW -- or, more gently, the comedic farce WW can muster -- came down on you if you grabbed elsewhere on your board than between your bindings ... or else ... clean on the tail or nose.

Now, it's after-market tower mounting choices.

john211 03-04-2015 1:43 PM

OK Ok ok ... that barefoot nautique is atrocious.

slowwwflowww 03-04-2015 2:21 PM

That is one of the nicest designs I have ever seen.Very modern looking.Come on people think outside the box.Worth every penny. As a matter of fact I think that's all its WORTHhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahaha

rallyart 03-04-2015 3:25 PM

From a practical standpoint that Nautique is actually quite good.

The tow point is right over the center of mass for the boat so it won't move much with a load.
It's tall to give the best air time and you can't hit your head on it.
The entire side of the boat is open for loading.
Boards on racks would be right where you want them so nobody gets clipped passing them back and forth to stow.
It's a very stiff part of the hull so the mount is stable.

Isn't there any value in Function before Form?

Just goes to show you people will buy anything even if it is butt ugly.

wakechango 03-17-2015 2:28 PM

Here's another one not sure the installation was thought out http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15...263a1bac2b.jpg

I just saw this one just now and had to snap a pic and post it up. All the towers above aren't great, but this one takes the cake. On an outboard Bayliner too.
It is made of rusting square steel tubing with a ball hitch on top.
:banghead:

john211 03-18-2015 1:15 PM

Umm ... it's fine.

I'm feeling guilty about the disparaging of other peoples' towers (which I partook in) when all they want to do is wakeboard ... but ... their budget is ... what it is.

viking 03-18-2015 6:20 PM

WOW..................just WOW! the race is on now to find one to beat that. I doubt highly it'll happen. Sweet find.

phathom 03-18-2015 6:52 PM

That was just one I drove by today. A quick google search revealed these gems.
