38 Degree Water Surfing

We had to clear ice just to get out on the lake. Check out the video of us wakeurfing in 38° Minnesota Lake Water HERE: http://bit.ly/38_degree_surfing

andy_nintzel 03-28-2017 9:11 AM

Beast mode! I am a bit jealous as the water is still frozen up in northern MN.

Nice we went for our first ride of the season. 85/70. Lol normally start early but it's been busy. You take the cake with those numbers

airzemee 04-01-2017 10:33 PM

I'm waiting for my chance to be there with yah lol. My record is April 14th wakeboarding. Most of the lake was still covered with ice lol.

WakeSurf22 04-02-2017 7:02 PM

Representing MN, love it!!!
Had the 1st dock in on White Bear Lake, MN....ice was still floating. Are we crazy up here?

Summer225 04-03-2017 10:05 AM

I would say yes, y'all are crazy! If I can't wear a bikini I aint going.....spoiled to the south I suppose.

TomH 04-03-2017 11:22 AM

Yea Jon, a lot of docks going in now on this side of town - saw quite a few on White Bear and Bald Eagle this weekend. Our boat comes out of storage this weekend so I can knock out a few preseason things. I haven't ponied up for a dry-suit yet, so it'll probably be closer to the end of the month before we drop in.

Props to Brian for getting out there. I've got few friends who hit the river monthly through the winter here - but haven't yet felt the need to check that box.

That was a great video! enjoyed the story.

January 28th, I went snowboarding in the morning, then drove from Mt Hood down to the Willamette river in Portland and went wakeboarding and wakesurfing in the afternoon.

I'll see your 38 degree water and raise ya 36 degree water.

Drysuits for the win.

The earliest I've been riding was, well.... New year's day. But the water that time was balmy in the 40's. It's actually cold now because of runoff from the mountains. yesterday it was 41 in the river.

brianthron 04-04-2017 6:06 AM

That's awesome Trayson!!!!

fence_sence 04-04-2017 7:38 AM

Damn. And I was feeling pretty tough with no wetsuit in 55* water the other day. 38* with no wetsuit is f'n nuts.

Kudos to the cold water guys. Doin it for the love!

I'm surprised you have ice with water temps at 38. we (almost) never see ice on our river... Maybe it's the current?

brianthron 04-05-2017 5:53 AM

The guy who went without a wetsuit is crazy (Fence_sence)

fence_sence 04-05-2017 7:34 AM

^^^Clearly. Like I always say though, water is only cold while you're in it. It's not cold while you're on it.

brianthron 04-06-2017 11:02 AM

Very true hence the smile he has on his face while he's surfing : )
