Congrats!!!

I'm hoping to knock mine out in the next year. And have a few years with no boat payment. But then I'll save up for a huge down payment plus selling my current one for my dream G23 LOL!!!!!

sppeders 01-09-2018 11:46 AM

Nice. Those older boats run pretty when they are free and clear!!!!!!!

denverd1 01-09-2018 1:15 PM

Awesome. I remember the thread when you bought the boat. Great deal and free and clear now!

I honestly didn't think my wife would go for it ... we had just bought the lake house and it needed a LOT of work, so I figured there was no chance.... but man has she done a 180* since then. I mentioned selling the boat this past fall so she could get the SUV she wanted + re-do our kitchen and she instantly said "We are NEVER selling the boat". She caught the boat-bug, so I'm safe for years to come.

Didn't hurt we got a hell of a deal too.

Stoked for this post! Congrats on the hard work and now the fun begins.

Nothing runs better than a paid-for boat!

Congratulations!!!

That's gotta feel good!!

My advice is continue making payments but to yourself and pay cash for the next one. It takes discipline but that good feeling will be even sweeter. Cash is king.

Man I'm jealous we are a year out. I can't wait! Congratulations.

Congrats,

You will probably break even or possibly make money even after years of enjoyment with that boat.
Especially since you’re not wasting money in interest now.

Nice rig and smart move!

More interested in how to get the wife hooked on boating tho....

I just paid mine off too . I'm so happy about it . I know my boats old but Ive worked my butt off my whole life and we love our boat . For me coming from nothing to just owning a home a decent truck and a cool boat Im starting to feel like the hard works finally paying off .

I caught myself thinking of upgrading more when I was making a boat payment. Now it’s paid off I seem to not be worried about replacing it, so it’s a win win paying one off in my eyes. Lol

Same here, first boat was on payments... thought it was only a 3 year boat but once paid off i kept for 10 years. 2nd boat i have no intent of ever selling it.

I also made a pact with myself to never talk to a banker again. Kind of kills the urge to get some debt.

Right on! Great plan.

Kind of like not even looking at the cookies at the store, suddenly the cravings go away if you never see one. [emoji6]

I have joint ownership on my 08 RZ2 with my sister and we paid it off in just under 2 years. I can't believe that it is quite common for boat owner to carry 20-30 year terms on a boat!

^^ The "cookies" isn't the banker, it's the new boats at the boat store.

Exactly.

Congratulations! I'm a big fan of used boats without a mortgage loan.
