Tower speakers took a dump and need to be replaced. I already have a box and everything is wired up so I'm not interested in changing the setup...i.e. not going to go out and buy Wetsounds (at least not this year). I have been running Polk MOMO's and I really liked them but I cant find them anymore. I used to see them on eBay for around $100 a set, not anymore. Questions is if I go with the DB's can I use my MOMO grills on them? All the other speakers in the boat are MOMO's and I like that they all match. Anything else that I should be looking at? I do really like that t he Polk stuff is marine grade. Trying to keep this less than $200 with shipping for 2 sets (4 speakers). Anybody know where to find MOMO's in that price range?
Thanks,
Aaron

I'd shoot em an email saying you'll do 2 pairs for 150 shipped then tell em to send you an invoice for the amount via paypal. Almost always works, if not he'll come back real close.

Threadjack:
Anyone know where to get half-decent marine grade 6x9's?

I need waterproof ones b/c they are mounted through the engine box of my direct drive, and therefore exposed to moisture from the bilge water. The Sony's that the previous owner installed 2-3 yrs ago are shot due to the moisture. Any advice will be appreciated.

Aaron, thanks for letting me jump on your thread.

The Polks are marine rated... you can also go the Wetsounds route...

Has anybody tried to the MB Quartz marine stuff, that maybe an option. I think I'm gonna pick up some more MOMO's...
Hate - I gave it shot and no dice on a better deal. Still $195 isn't too bad considering the only other place I could find them had them at about $150 a pair...

hatepain 08-19-2009 8:56 AM

Bummer, but you are right thats a smoking deal. MB Quartz is not what they use to be I'd stick with the MOMO's.

You should look at the Pioneer five way A6993R
Took out the polks to run these much, much louder and all round better speaker.
If you don't have the $$ for Wetsounds, NVS ect the Pioneers rip!
my .02
