2019 Phase 5 Phantom
Anyone ride it yet? How does it compare to an Ahi? Any other thoughts?

I rode Parker's prototype when he was here this summer. I like it, very different that the Ahi (which is what I ride)
Board is super responsive edge to edge. A great board for sure |

Cool, thanks for the reply! What would you say the main strengths/weaknesses are of the Phantom when compared to the Ahi? Really trying to make a decision quickly as I have a 2018 Ahi on hold that I need to release if I decide to get the Phantom instead. They both seem like great boards. I really like my Hammerhead skim board and figure that the Phantom will be more like it than the Ahi (I.e., I expect the Phantom will be good for revert riding after an air). Whereas the Ahi seems like more of a carving style board that can also get air. |
Any more thoughts from folks who have had some time on the Phantom?

Not all that similar to the Ahi, although not really as different as people might think. It is roughly a replacement for the wire, which was p5s version of my team pro.
The wider, blunter nose does not make it easier to ride revert, it mostly just allows for a shorter board with a larger weight range. The phatom is a narrower, more refined version of the wire, with more even weight distribution for rotational riding. Nick |
I wonder how the Phantom will compare to the Swell. Anyone every ride the Swell?
