registering an out of state boat in CA

Looking at picking up an oldie in Oregon(1985), how difficult is it to get it registered in CA?

Should not be difficult if you have titles and bills of sale for boat and trailer. You will need to pay sales tax in Cali when you register it. They may need you to bring the trailer in when you register it to do a VIN inspection.... Might call Cali DMV and confirm what all you need, but should be pretty easy.

I registered an out of state boat a couple years ago. Just drag it down there with your bill of sale and they’ll work it all out in person. It goes quickly if you have an appointment.

Im not "certain" as it was 4 years ago but when I moved back to CA from Orlando I believe the DMV requested the weight of my trailer (without boat). So be careful with that. Truly the best thing you can do is contact your local DMV office and ask them directly what is needed. Then get on their online system and schedule an appointment and skip the lines. Outside of the trailer issue, mine was relatively easy from what I recall.
