Maybe he did what I always think a local audio dealer did. Take all the old JL's on trade in from MC Installs and put it on his own boat.lol. Seriously though, a local audio guy put a bunch of Pro60's on his boat and I swear it was from everyone else upgrading to newer style (Enter Marine Audio Manuf) so he just took the old speakers and put them on his boat.
I agree though, Why not install some better speakers....just looks stupid! |

did you see it in person? looks photo shopped (or incredibly stupid) with 3 rows on port and 2 on starboard down the sides of the tower.
think the tower shakes in the rough stuff.... |

Definitely drives a lifted truck with nuts on the back and only plays buy me a boat on repeat with speakers like that.

The first picture shows more speakers added to the front arms of the tower which means that there is about a 4 to 5 foot span in front to rear speaker depth. So the phase shift is all over the place. Even using more of a sound quality speaker like the JL's, it has to sound absolutely awful. It looks totally stupid also.
How would someone properly power that? How much battery reserves would it take? One upgrade alternator wouldn't handle it? How would they get enough conductors through the tower without turning the tower into Swiss cheese? If I was going to invest that type of money to make the ultimate statement then I would start with a custom tower that would better suit my sound goals. Larger, fewer speakers. A fanned array. A little phase coherency. |
Was that in Dallas? I had a buddy send me a photo of that boat just yesterday. It was covered and sitting on a trailer during his UPS route.

We saw this boat on Ray Hubbard. They where pulling a wakeboarder behind it and get this no sound from the speakers.

Overkill, probably. But 100x less annoying than the fat guy plowing down the lake, at 10mph in his 24ft boat with 1100s on each side of the engine, death gripping the surf rope yelling at the driver that this wave just doesn't push. That is the worst kind of overkill. At least this guy gets somewhere, parks and drinks yeger all day. The fat guy who refuses to pump, ruins the day for everyone.

He lives in Garland Tx. I only know this because he is the guy I used to get my CDL. He runs a company called CDL test truck. Definitely a douche that told us stories the entire time about his days as a navy seal.... Does have a pretty hot wife though.
