Wake Opinion--ghetto gate

After seeing much discussion and reviews of the different surfing systems and homemade surfgates, I decided that my 2003 Supra needed something new. I have not surfed or even seen any of the new boat systems out there but with so much discussionon wakeworld, I was inspired. I built a custom swim platform with adjustable and detachable surfgates for each side. They attach in under a minute and total cost is under 200 so far. take a look at the pics and please review. I will upload pics of the project after I ahve the platform completed

The first pic is the wake with 750 in each rear locker and 1100 in the mid locker at 10.5 mph

the second is no weight

The thirdpic is the wake with 1100 in the mid ballast, and 750 in each rear ballast

The fourth is the wake with 1100 in the mid ballast and 750 on the goofy side only--other empty

all pics in 20+ feet of water at 10.5 mph

after surfing it fully loaded, I can see my platform does not interfere with the wake at all, the wave is considerabley longer but not as tall(I am still hoping for warm weather up here to further play with speeds and weight)

Look for another post of the side by side pics of my wave vs a new X30

I always like seeing people take on projects like these - yours looks nicely done but could maybe benefit from moving the "gate" closer to the side of the boat? Its hard to tell where it actually sits in comparison to the side of the boat but it *looks* like it could move out a couple inches. Hard to say without seeing some out of water shots.

+1 for doing a full platform/gate combo.

Do you have a pic of it on the trailer from the rear? It looks like your gates are really close in. They should stick out a bit past the edge of the hull, it looks like they are in quite a bit, but that could be the picture as well.

Gate does look really close in. I fabricated mine so where it meets the hull is right on edge & gate then sticks out about 30 degrees.

When we did our "gate," on our direct drive we had it out at least 30 degrees. It made a world of difference as it looks like your does also. We had luck with a little more ballast on the surf side so we were still leaned over just a smidge. Great wave for a direct drive.
