Anyone running big systems these days?

Seems like it’s been a long time since we have seen some stereo build pics. I always loved seeing everyone’s DIY projects or big custom builds from the shops. Over the last 15 years or so of being on WW, we have seen some pretty impressive builds. Post up some pics of your systems, let’s get fired up for Summer!

I got one going on, nothing to big. Just hoping for some decent sound.
10 inch jlw3
4 Polk
pp p900.
Pioneer gm-d9605 5 channel amp
WS mb-8 towers
Fosgate 6.5 towers
Sirius unit
Transom remote
I'm thinking PP amp for inboats and the pioneer for the sub and towers for now.

Nothing too big
4 WS Rev10s pushes by an SD2
6 WS XS650RGB cabins and a WS XS12 in a porter box pushed by an SD6. Rev 10s have the LED rings and there is a WS420 controlling it all. Don’t have many pictures of the install on my phone. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...9c76cea564.jpg

Shawn: post a system of the Epic: and then I will post pictures of my system and I’m sure Harold will post his, we can get this thread started. Shawn didn’t be shy.

Getting ready to do a instal on our new boat. Nothing big though. Installing 6 revo 6.5 inboats and a revo 12hp sub on a sd6 and a set of rev 10's on a Syndx 4. with the normal stuff like 420sq and RGB led's. I don't go to big anymore. We buy a new boat every 2 years and it's hard to get the money back.

Gonna slip this in here... i have some brand new Wetsounds stuff that i'm trying to get rid of asap. White REV8 and 10s with swivel clamps, SYN DX4 and HTX-2 amps, wiring kits, WS-220BT Making some pretty good deals on stuff. Hit me up if interested.

Most of the boaters on my lake have converted to pontoons and tritoons. Here's a new Manitou I built for a local dealer for the boat shows. All Wet Sounds - MC1, 4Zone RGB, SynDX2.3, SynDX6, SynDX4, 6 Revo6, 2 Revo10 in ported enclosures behind metal mesh and edge lit acrylic. Amp rack is built from FPVC, snaps into a groove in the bottom and 2 screws on the top to secure it. Amp rack was able to be built and wired on the workbench, then connect power/ground/speakers, and it's done. LED's were tied to a terminal block at the controller on the amp rack, but control is done through the head unit.

I'm a dealer/audio shop in Western KY if anyone somewhat nearby needs anything.

Edit: Sorry about the sideways pics, that's just how they uploaded :banghead:

1 of the many houseboats we did this year. 2 SD6's, 2 SD4's. 3 XS Power batteries and power supply, 4 pair of Revo8's, 6 Revo10's, 4 Rev10's, Rockford PMX8, and lots of other meticulous work. This was a big job. All panels for the 8's were built to cover up old speaker holes in the metal, and the panels were also repainted at the time of install.

Come on G, we all know the Epic was photoshopped!

Nothing to throw a huge stone at. 4 rev 10s, SD2 for those, JL800/8 for the cockpit (4 JL 7.7s and a set of tweeters on the dash) and a free air JL 8 and free air JL 10, and 2 JL10w3v3s in a ported box powered by a HT2 wetsounds amp. No where else to really put speakers on the MC.

Rugger 01-25-2018 1:30 PM

Great post. Personally I swapped out old 6.5 Polks for Wetsounds 808s and found it to be a monster upgrade! Not easy to fit the 8" speakers though in an older boat. But worth the upgrade when properly powered. Added Rev10s too.

And of course the LEDs on the Rev 10's had to match the custom LEDs I put in the homemade Surf Gates.

Love those JL amps. Nice

shawnmdarnell 01-25-2018 4:59 PM

I love the HD amps too. I had 4 of them in my last boat and they can take a beating and keep on going!

Last summers set up:

Almost all Exile except for the subs;
XM9s on a 30.2
SXT9s on another 30.2
3 pairs of SX65Ms on an XM15.4
2 Kicker L7 12s in a ported box on an XM20.1
Fusion MSIP700i Head unit
2 Exide GC135 batteries

2018 will bring 2 more L7s, 2 more batteries. I’m contemplating swapping the Sx65s for SC80s, and the SXT9 for another pair of XM9s, not sure on that yet.

That looks sweet.

Curious how you have 6 tower speakers wired to 2 2 channel amps (assuming the 30.2s are for the tower?)

Wetsounds

If anyone needs Wet Sounds audio let me know I am a dealer out of Sullivan,IL. I will price match or even beat any prices you find!

wetsounds1 02-06-2018 6:34 PM

Beau,

What Wet Sounds dealer do you work for? You list Wet Sounds sales rep in your profile but I've never heard of you. I assume your Refering to working for one of our dealers. However, We don't have a dealer listed in Sullivan, IL. Also, our dealers don't conduct business like that or spam threads. Care to explain what's going on here?

You guys with these big systems, where are your batteries? I'm currently relocating my 4 group 31 AGM batteries to the amp area. I'm a little perplexed on what the best way is to wire everything up.

Tim,

I must be only in Santa Fe Distributing's system as a dealer. Which I was directed to call by maybe a secretary for Wet Sounds? Please give me a call tommorow. You can reach me at 217-273-4816. I would like to get this all straightened out.

Thanks,
Beau

Answer is in the T.O. thread. In short, if all you did was move the batteries, then the schematic wont change, just the cable length and gauge.

To the guys running subs under the helm, how is your bass response near the back of the boat while out in the water and not moving? I installed a 13w7 ported under the helm with a 1200 slash JL audio amp and it sounds decent in the driver seat but fades off real quick as distance increases. When sitting in the rear seats the bass is pretty minimal and I'm wondering if I did something wrong or what??? The box is well built to JL specs and ported at 35hz (if I recall correct) and sealed not only with resin but also linex on the exterior for moisture control. I keep thinking with all this top end equipment it should sound better!

I've always done all my own testing and tuning but I'm finally debating on having a shop do it out of frustration with my results. The problem is that I don't trust any shops to really put much of an effort into it and dial it in "right". Ideas? I'm near the seattle area.

Here is mine on my X23. 4 Rev8s and I added an additional JL 10" sub. I think it sounds pretty good.

Before I secured my sub I spun it 360 degrees multiple times to see which was all around best results. In my Sanger sub forward off the “firewall” was best. In my sport nautique firing off the side wall was best. Both those configurations were waaaaaay better the firing out into open air.

I had the same set up in my old Tige 21i. I eventually diddual 13w7s on slash 1200/1s and it still wasn't as impressive as one would think. I think in an open environment like boats, there are subs with more SPL out there, especially for the money. In my A22, I went with a Wetsounds XXXv2 in the box on their site (the single tube port) and to me, it's louder then the dual w7s I had in the 21i. I had a thread on both systems that we went into pretty good detail on the subs IIRC.
