dirt bike questions...

Ok. I'm finally getting serious about a "new to me" dirt bike.

Currently I'm on a DRZ400 Suzuki that does everything "okay". I can take it on forest service roads, single track, even jump it from time to time, but the more I ride the more I'm on single track or trying to keep up on little motocross tracks.

I still love to take the DRZ on longer trips for overnight camping, when we put all our gear on the bikes.

The bike that I'm looking at is the KTM 350 EXC-F. Anyone have any experience with this bike?

Thoughts?

Yup. A friend has one. I've ridden both the EX and SX models. Great bikes.

It's all about where you are going to spend the majority of your time. The EX gets the wider ratio transmission I believe, and PSD rear suspension. It's still not going to be ideal for the track. If your'e going strictly dirt anyway, I would go for the link suspension and MotoX transmission. I ride a 300 XC which has both. It's a great racing bike for both woods and track. And hill climb also. But.....no headlight.

That's a tough call. Any reason why you are not considering the 450?

Make sure the kick starter kit is available for your bike also. KTM is now producing bikes that depend on e-start which I think is a horrible idea.

^^Thanks for the advice. I couldn't wait so I just picked up a new EXC350. Been riding it a little the past two days and love it! Feels like a mountain bike compared to my DRZ. You can really just whip it around. Should have it broken in soon then off to the dirt!!

Congrats. KTMs are in a class of their own.
