That's plenty of time to get to the Delta!

extremeisaac 05-15-2008 4:08 PM

not in 580 traffic..

goride 05-15-2008 4:15 PM

exit hacienda, take dublin blvd down to tassajara and turn left. Turn rt on highland rd and if you follow it rt itll dump you rt onto vasco rd and you wont have to touch 580. Cuts 30mins off the commute.

westsidarider 05-15-2008 4:28 PM

I haven't been keeping up
what lakes are banned out there and why?
thanks

extremeisaac 05-15-2008 4:54 PM

all santa clara county lakes for some mussels that have not been sited or found.. they put a temp ban on boating in SC county reseviors untill they can come up with a plan on how to check for the mussels

ord27 05-15-2008 6:56 PM

ouch
thanks for the reply

cyrus 05-15-2008 7:03 PM

The news advised the park rangers are going to check the boats. Appox 10 min per boat for check in.

extremeisaac 05-15-2008 10:28 PM

when? are the parks now allowing boats? or still banned untill the 23rd

jgmaher 05-16-2008 9:56 PM

The ban really blows, especially for riders in those areas. The truth of the matter is, from what I've heard at least, that these "mussels" are a real problem. Supposedly they spread like wildfire and can ruin boats and natural wildlife. Aren't they from somewhere in Asia? All it takes is one boat with them on it to drop into a different lake and contaminate that one too. But, like I said, this is all just what I heard. Can anyone verify? Hopefully they can resolve this soon.

History of the Quagga/Zebra Mussels
• Arrived from Europe in the 1980s
• Spread to many eastern waterways, rivers and lakes
• Quagga found in Lake Mead in Arizona on Jan. 6, 2007, and later throughout Lake Mead’s lower basin
• Quagga found in Lakes Mojave and Havasu in the Colorado River Jan. 17, 2007
• Quagga found summer 2007 in the Colorado River Aqueduct System
• Quagga recently found in San Diego County in San Vicente Reservoir, Lake Murray Reservoir, Lower
Otay Reservoir, Lake Dixon, and Miramar Reservoir and in Riverside County in Lake Skinner and Lake
Mathews.
• Zebra mussels found in San Justo Reservoir, San Benito County, Jan. 2008

U.S. Congressional researchers estimated that an infestation of the zebra mussel in the Great Lakes area
cost the power industry $3.1 billion in the 1993-1999 period, with an economic impact on industries, businesses,
and communities of more than $5 billion.
In California, spread of the mussels threatens water delivery systems, hydroelectric facilities, agriculture,
recreational boating and fishing, and the environment in general

Any updates on this?

norcalbordr 05-19-2008 10:31 AM

yeah, that sucks that the delta will be more busy because of this. A bunch of people who aren't familiar with the Delta all at once = bad news and even more crowded water

liquidmx 05-19-2008 11:41 AM

Update: According to the two emails I got this is just temporary as it should be open for most of the season. See attached link.

http://www.sccgov.org/portal/site/parks/parksarticle?path=%252Fv7%252FParks%2520and%2520Re creation%252C%2520Department%2520of%2520%2528DEP%2 529&contentId=8562ec18084e9110VgnVCMP230004adc 4a92____&cpsextcurrchannel=1

I find it more than a little ironic that running your boat in salt water is now the easiest way to save your engine after using it in fresh water It used to be the other way around. It also helps you get through the checkpoints coming back California with your boat if you tell them you run in salt water at home.

wakeboardertj 05-19-2008 3:07 PM

the local private lake my buddy has a boat on just got put in a ban because of some bacteria/virus in the water that i was just in yesterday

wakegrl2109 05-20-2008 5:30 PM

PLUS I would call any lakes you might be going to in Nor Cal. Some lakes are banning boats on their lakes if they are registered in Santa Clara County. I know New Hogan is one of them and have heard of a couple others as well. It would suck to go up boating and not be able to go. THank god mines not registered down there anymore. Moved Just in time

Anderson is back in business on Friday the 23rd with an inspection of $7.00. Hopefully the "A holes" will not show.
