Hydrodyne

Does anyone know anything about the hydrodyne v-drives? Any opinions?

bill_airjunky 09-30-2010 6:42 PM

What year? I don't recall any in the 90s. Anything in the last 10 yrs or so is a rebadged Calabria.

illini88 09-30-2010 6:58 PM

I think 1998

polarbill 09-30-2010 8:08 PM

NADA doesn't even show that Hydrodyne made boats from 1997 to 2000. 96 and earlier they only made 2 models I think. A direct drive open bow and direct drive closed bow. From 01 to 03 they were rebadged Calabria's. If it is an 01 it would be the same boat as a Calabria Pro V.

Some research found me this boat. I have never heard of or seen one.

Yea, what Brett said.....

Wild lookin v-drive. I've never seen or heard of it myself. 1997, they were pretty cutting edge for the day.

That's the one I saw. Had never seen anything like it before.

I remember seeing a Hydrodyne V drive at one of the West Coast Boat shows in January of 07....if I recall, the company stopped production towards the end of 06, so there must have been very few of those V drives built.

That being said, the mid 90's Dynes were well built, hi quality boats. They used good materials, PCM power, and were marketed as "luxury" ski boats.

By 07, Bob J of Calabria owned the Hydrodyne name & the old molds to the 90s boats. Actually by about 00 or 01. Hence the fact they were using the same molds & ideas in both Calabria & Hydrodyne. But he just didn't have the cash flow for 2 squandering companies.

Well you gotta like the GT-40....

After that this one screams TEST DRIVE could be a slalom hull made to look like a family I/O

Could be the unsung v-drive version of the nautique 2001 or a masteraft 206 clone.

only one way to find out.

Sorry...i just realized I was off by a decade...I meant to say 1997 shows where I saw a Dyne V Drive....and that the original Hydrodyne stopped building in late 1996, if I recall.

Size is going to be difficult to determine on this thing given the molded swim platform.

bill_airjunky 10-03-2010 10:48 AM

Nothing difficult about it. It's a 22'6" boat. But 2' of that is the swimstep. So it's going to be more like the interior of a 20' boat with a bolt on swimstep.

Dash is nice. Not sure I care for the twin capt seats though. Maybe if their both on swivels.

wake77 10-03-2010 12:59 PM

That thing looks like a turd.

meathead65 10-03-2010 2:14 PM

I'd be curious to know how it runs....20 foot V Drive running surface, what appears to be a middle of the road amount of deadrise, full size trim tabs stock.

With a GT 40 in a 20 foot running surface, I doubt it's a slug.

In other ads, I can count a couple tracking fins, so it might handle quite well if you remember it's only 20.5 or so feet in the water.

rmcronin 10-03-2010 4:39 PM

There's one at my lake, only used by the family for recreation. They are build like tanks, very high quality boats.

illini88 03-30-2011 5:31 AM

Your boat is the one I was posting about last fall! Looks nice.

redsupralaunch 03-30-2011 7:03 AM

Beware - Hours on this boat have been rolled. Must think we are all stupid. He is trolling on wakeboarder trying to unload this too - as rider9999

Puts out a nice wake for skiing or wakeboarding depending on the position of the hydraulic trim tabs. I bought the boat used for 21,500 w/ 300 hrs on it in 2006. It now has over 700 hrs on it and runs great. EFI really makes it nice.
