TRD-Conversion Kit

I have a 2008 Sanger V215 with the Mercruiser Black Scorpion engine. None of the gauges now work. It started with the temp gauge failing last year. I'm pretty sure this is part of the Medallion ecu problem that has affected many boat of this era. I recently came across the TRD-Conversion kit for this problem online. Apparently the kit will provide new gauges that plug in and by-pass the old Medallion ECU...? There are kits for various brands of boats. Anyone have any experience or comments about this issue or the TRD conversion. Thanks.

You can find relatively cheap Medallion used boards. I'm sure you prob have a perfect pass of some sort already and dont REALLY need the speedo function. The pitot tubes that the ecu uses for MPH are the issue....water gets in there....freezes...and cracks the housing....then over a little time corrodes the area and shorts out kills the functions slowly. If you pull the pitot tubes from the ecu then it should be pretty trouble free. ( unless you just HAVE to have that guage working for aesthetics ....i put a media controller in that spot for a while. ) SO 250-300 fix vs the 1400 for the TRD ( last time i looked into it ). Just a thought.

when did medallion become a thing? I know Nautiques of the same era are notorious for the box biting the dust

Apparently after Airguide stopped making speedometers, boat manufacturers turned to Medallion, around 1996-1997. Medallion was a heavy truck gauge maker . Per a YOUTUBE video I watched, American Skier was first to turn to Medallion. Soon other's followed. And as Soonerbilly said, the pitot tube ends up getting water in the computer components and it shorts out everything, There are many posts about this problem on Wakeworld and other boating sites.

I don't need a speedometer as I have Perfect Pass. I would like fuel and temp however. I think the TRD conversion is listed at about $900.00 for my boat.
