Best choice for Wakesurf boat in $100k range - used or new

I’m new around here and have been recently digesting all the great info on the boards, so I figured I’d throw this topic out there and see what the feedback is.

I’m getting a lake house and will need a boat. Primary interest is wakesurfing. Will never have more than 8 or so people on board. It’s a small lake and boat will be moored at a dock behind the house, so most likely it will be taken out for an hour or two at a time.

I’ve been looking at 2015/2016 Nautique G21 and G23. Thoughts? Am I better off with an older premium boat or a newer “affordable” boat? (Being new to this boat game, all these prices seem somewhat crazy). Is there going to be an appreciable difference in the surfing between the G21 and G23? Should I be looking at Malibu or Mastercrafts from that era? Is there any model that stands out for surfing?

Thanks!

Take a look at 2016-2018 Supra SA. Should be in that price range and surf nice.

Even a 2015/2016 boat stands a good chance at spending time at the dealership so I’d look around for a dealership you like and then narrow down the boat. Nautique, Mastercraft, Malibu, Supra, and Tige all make great boats in that price range and age. I’m probably missing others. I know personally I love my Nautique dealer so that’s what I buy. I have a 230 and if I upgrade it’ll likely be to a G23. If I went with someone else it would probably be Tige and that’s entirely based on the dealership.

Try to get the largest boat you can, one thing you often see, with 2nd and 3rd etc boat buyers) they want a larger boat. I started on 21ft boats, because of funding, then my last 4 boats have been 24's i will never go back to a smaller boat, so you get the benefits of a better wake, wave (usually) and the room, and a better resale market.

Man, I have ridden most everything on the market, and I have been floored with the ZS232. We changed from G21 to ZS232 last season and will never look back. Wave is amazing, also I primarily wakeboard and the wakeboard wake is phenomenal fwiw. In all seriousness, for the money, one of the best wake surf boats I have ever seen. And you can probably get into a new one for around 100 or a used at 100. Highly recommend.
