Prop probs
1 Attachment(s)
Hey guys so when I bought my boat on the test drive, long story short they screwed up the prop, the guy had the stock prop and threw it on so that's what I have on it now.... He gave me the one that's dinged up and took some money off so I could repair it... My question is if It's worth it to repair it or if I should just get a new one ... It's goin on a 1998 Sanger DLX

A) A spare prop is always good to have.
B) If it's a different pitch it may be better for running loaded. C) Repairing an old prop is typically always cheaper than buying a new one. |
This prop is much better than the stock one for what I want to do (wakeboarding, heavy ballast) but a local boat shop told me they don't think it's repairable? That's weird to me but I mean what are your guys thoughts

Local shop guy is a idiot.

Send it to Murphy's Prop shop in Norfolk, VA. Mine looked worse than yours and they did an amazing job repairing it! Cost was about $130 total. Here's their link:

That's what I said red haha, not goin back there again .... Another bit shop here said to send it off and it'll be fine .... Thanks beg4wake! I'll do it

I would think any prop is repairable. It ultimately goes back to the cost of repairing over a full replacement. I bought a cheap prop to use as a spare and it had chunks missing, rough edges, and parts peeled back. Getting it repaired was still less than half of new.
I agree with Red & Brian.....go else where. |
yup. idiot alert! probably doesn't know how or have the tools to do it. I bet he'll sell you a new one tho!!
|
Yea, that should be easily repairable. Another great shop is PropMD (www.propmd.com ) up in Minnesota. They've done awesome with a couple of my repairs through them, and their turn-around time is extremely fast even in the prime of summer.
