Boat Trader
I have a question about boat-trader.
I'm selling my boat and I have listed it for sale on various sites including WW, Malibu Crew, OIB, CL, etc. (Shameless Plug: http://www.onlyinboards.com/Details.aspx?ID=39326 ) OIB is only like $9.99 for a month and everything else is free. I looked at boattrader and it costs $50 for 2 weeks  It strikes me that boat-trader is likely not the best place to sell a specialized boat anyways. Anyone had any luck selling a boat on there before? Any other suggestions for sites I should post it on? |
Ill just say I've bought two boats and sold one using onlyinboards.com so it does work.

I am in the same boat as you..literally!! I listed my boat on here, Tige owners, OIB, and did decide to try boat trader. It is really expensive(comparatively) at $50 for 14 days. I will tell you I am already disappointed. It says it can take up to 72 hours for your listing to get approved. I am at about 36 hours(day and a half) and my listing still shows "pending" and does not show on their site. So if it takes 72 hours/3 days then I will lose almost 25% of the time I paid for. Because the listing says it expires 14 days from yesterday, not from whenever they decide to actually post it. So I thought it was expensive at $50 for 14 days, but guess it's more like $50 for 11 days. I'm not impressed. I can let you know in a week if I get any action on there.
I agree that OIB, wake world, and the owners sites seem to be a better place to sell these very specialized boats and those sites are way more cost effective. I would see if you get any action on the others before you put the money out. |
I put my boat for sale on boat trader and paid like 112$ for a few months add. Didn't get a single bite from there. My craigslist add sold the boat.
Same with my car on autotrader. Waste of time. Ppl who buy used stuff check craigslist first. |
I can't believe how much Auto/Boat/Cycle/Etc.. Trader charges to list stuff. I bet their hurting for business now days! Do they even have a print copy anymore? I don't think I've looked at one in 10-12 years.
