Time to replace the bunks on my '08 XStar trailer. Pretty sold on the Ultimate Bunk Boards Supreme bunk. I like how they're reinforced between the trailer bunk mounts. Just curious if anyone has any real world experience with them?

I like the look of those but would be afraid they would do damage to the gel coat over time .

From what I've read and understand as long as they're clean they're no worse, if not better, than carpeted bunks...

Ehh... according to the people selling the boards. Need some independent verification. They seem interesting so I was hoping someone who actually owns them will reply.

I did a search and found a lot of people asking questions like you but not a lot of people that actually have them.

One complaint seems to be that they flop around while towing, but the aluminum supports in the Supreme version should help with that. Still not sold; the second link above shows scratches from that type of bunk.

1 ten foot 2x4 section is 110.00 hard to justify when wood is about 5.00

My other interest is the Gatorbak stuff, wanting something a little slicker than carpet. I'm using a Ramp-N-Clamp and the carpet on the trailer now is like a damn suction cup. I hate having to give the boat additional power to get it to slide up the carpet just to slam into the Ramp-N-Clamp.

Get the bunks wet and you'll slide better. When putting the trailer in submerge them all the way then pull forward to whatever depth you need. Or you can get liquid rollers and put it on your carpet, but that stuff terrifies me - if you use it, do not ever unstrap the winch until your boat is in the water.

I found these to be the highest quality bunk covers over any carpet- they don't scratch the hull at all because they are a softer material and thicker for long wear.
