1 set of wetsound rev 10s. Amp advice

hi guys

I just bought a set of wetsound rev 10s. I was wondering what amps you guys would recommend?
been recommended:

Rockford Fosgate pmx600X4
Wetsounds Syn 4
Alpine pdx-5m

any advice would be helpful.

Cheers

I would certainly seek the input of your Wet Sounds dealer that you purchased the Rev-10 from. Top level amp = wet sounds SD-2. Next, Syn-DX4 or Arc KS-300.4 or KS600.2. Lower end option would be the KTX-4 or arc XDi600.4

I run the jl audio mhd750-1 on mine and it's amazing. Full, clear and loud as hell

Thanks for the response. What sort of rms should I be looking at per speaker when buying an amp?
So you wouldn't recommend the Rockford fish at?

I have always been a fan of having a little headroom so I try to always have more power than I need. I like the way the rev 10's perform on between 350-400rms each. But that's just me

The rev 8's sound great at 310 rms, the same is true with the rev10 at 500. Call wetsounds Monday and talk to the tech guys. These speakers can handle more than advertised rms.... ask me how I know.....
Please understand I am giving you the rms for optimum performance...... at these wattages they scream....
The 10's are in their sweet spot from 400-500 rms...that JL 750-1 is perfect....

Alright cheers:)) so it's not bad running them harder then there meant to be

They are intended to be run harder than minimum rms, they really "wake up" at 100 under peak....
Make sure the system is tuned properly and you will be very happy!

I also like to see power approaching 400 watts per each Wetsounds Rev10. Perhaps 375 W each via a strictly regulated JL Audio HD750/1 (perfect) or a little more power if the amplifier is unregulated. A bridged Wetsounds SynDX4 would be great also.
Keep in mind that a 10" midbass driver with a 2" voice coil really isn't going to handle 400 watts RMS for any length of time, but if you keep the amplifier out of hard compression it will never see that kind of continuous power on music material.
Music is very dynamic by nature. The added sonic benefits of the excess power is headroom to match the maximum and short term bursts contained in the music. You don't necessarily interpret this as more average volume. But you will hear this as added contrast and clarity. Maybe not at the end of a rope but in many other listening scenarios.

Do you plan to stay with just one set ?? Or do you plan to add a second set in the future?? If you plan to add a second set I would recommend the Wetsounds sd2 or the Arc audio ks 600.2

I have been through 3 JL 750HDs, 2 standard and one marine. All powering a set of Rev 10s. The marine has been sent into service twice for it going into protect mode. JL even sent out a rep to check my system and nobody can explain what keeps happening. Area is cool and dry that the amp lives in. I don't even play my system loud. I have it all wired with high end wet wire. I followed all the rules for wiring and tuning. But I still I keep blowing the amps. While it was at JL this summer I installed a wetsounds amp, I ended up using it all summer with zero issues. I will probably sell the Marine 750HD and just buy another wetsounds.

for 1 pair in order of best first:
SD4
SynDX4
Syn4

For 2 pair in order of best first:
SD2
SynDX2 (a little weak, but will work)

Connolly_Crew 10-17-2016 4:22 PM

Listen to Jonyb

Truekaotik 10-17-2016 6:14 PM

Jonyb is spot on except adding the JL 750 to list like David said..

Personally best amp is the SynDX4.... number one for money and power.

jonyb 10-18-2016 9:43 AM

I've used the combo of Syn4 and 1 pair of Rev's or Pro's for several years. excellent combination. An SD4 on a single pair can only be done with people that can use stereo's in moderation. That's not the setup for a cranker. Lot's of power there.
