Electrical shock drowning
 
Saw this posted in another forum and I was unaware of this myself. Ordered a couple detectors one for our cabin with metal dock and powered lift and one for our home pool. Would rather be informed and safe.

surprised this thread doesn't have a single reply. You're smart to check your dock. several folks in this area die from shock drowning every year. One of my offroad buddy's actually died about a year ago working on lift wiring. He put in docks/lifts and was typically pretty smart about it.

This is a huge concern at Lake Powell, actually posted in the marina to not swim.

When I wired my lift I put in a GFI. I ran a ground wire to a buried copper rod and back to the breaker box.
