Haven't lived here long enough to know any orthopedic surgeons. Looking for suggestions for docs in the Orlando area.

Any information is appreciated!

mayor_h 07-28-2009 4:31 AM

Hey Kat , hope ur knee is ok. I had a bad experience with orlando orthopedic group. But loved Dr. Hugh Morris at Jewett orthopedics in winter park. he was hard to schedule and i waited everytime i had to see him, but to me,he was well worth the extra time.good luck !

dreevs 07-28-2009 6:06 AM

Kat? What happened??

gunnertom4593 07-28-2009 6:12 AM

Dr. Padgett in winter haven is really good and highly respected in the area. I had nothing but good experiences (well as good as knee injuries can be haha). Might be a little far depending on where in Orlando you are but I recommend him

Thanks, Nedge & Tom!

Hey Ted, where you been hiding? Ranger Rodney is below his quota on tickets on Lake Weir without you! lol We've actually been riding on Lake Harris these days; the water is gross, but low traffic & smooth. Not many people brave enough to get in a tube or ride in that gator infested lake!

I'm certain that I partially tore the R ACL (3rd time now) last year at Worlds on a tantrum to the flats & finished it off doing nothing! It was bothering me a lot after riding on Sunday. Yesterday I was sitting at my desk, twisted my upper body to reach something without moving my feet and POP!! Couldn't breathe, stand up, anything! The normal feeling I've had after 3 ACL ruptures (L - 1; R -2) in the past! I've ridden with it torn before, but just want to know what's going on with it given all my business travels these days. Need to plan the surgery sooner rather than later, if needed. (I'm not sure why I bother with that knee anymore!)

It hasn't failed in 11 years now....every time I get a brand new boat ('98, '03 & '09), I tear my ACL. I'm thinking I'm on my last new boat ever!!

duffy 07-28-2009 9:39 AM

Kat,

Also look into Tampa General associated with USF. I have heard great things about the hospital and their doctors.

Also when you heal I wanna pull behind the new boat!

(Message edited by duffy on July 28, 2009)

parkgirl 07-28-2009 9:46 AM

sucks, Kat. Wow you've had it rough with your knees.

Maybe try to find out who did Anna Hajek's knee, she had an amazing recovery!

wakekat15 07-28-2009 10:11 AM

Appreciate the information & I will reach out to Anna, as she has come back awfully quick!!

dreevs 07-28-2009 10:29 AM

I hope you heal soon! I heard you got a new boat - I work right next to Lake Harris, let me know when you are moving around again!

lizrd 07-28-2009 12:52 PM

Not good...

wakekat15 07-28-2009 1:22 PM

Nobody said I was done riding for the year! Just a little more handicapped than usual right now!

clearlakeirene 07-28-2009 2:41 PM

OH NO Kat! Sorry to hear you hurt your knee again . Think you will still be able to compete at Worlds?
Dr Schwartzburg at Orlando Orthopedics if a very good sports med MD, and he specializes in knees. His PA is really good to and is also an Athletic Trainer, so he also has lots of sports experience.
Both, I believe, have worked with pro sports teams.
GOOD LUCK!!!

wakekat15 07-28-2009 5:03 PM

Thanks, Renie!

Gonna ride, regardless. Just want to get the scoop on the damage as soon as possible. Speaking of, I might be on your lake the Friday of Worlds for an outing if you want to join us. (Is it safe to launch in the hood?) ;-D

mayor_h 07-28-2009 6:04 PM

Just say'n , not from what i've heard, but from my personal experience i would never send anybody to Orlando orthopedics.

otown_dave 07-28-2009 6:36 PM

(Is it safe to launch in the hood?) Maybe if you go early no one will be in the park & still sleeping off the night festivities.I was scared just walking to the dock to take a look! ( I don't scare easily) I thought I was going to get jacked before I could get back in the Truck....

wakekat15 07-28-2009 6:52 PM

lol, Thanks David! I'm glad you made it out alive!

And Nedge, duly noted!

wakekat15 07-28-2009 6:56 PM

Duffy,

I missed that part about the pull.
No need to wait; I'll be on the water whether I can ride or not! Out of town this coming weekend, but avail the weekend after! Tell Ted to join us; we can all meet in Clermont!

otown_dave 07-28-2009 6:59 PM

At least it cuts the amount of dock traffic. Why The city spent all that money for such a nice dock right there boggles the mind..

rnopr8 07-28-2009 7:27 PM

otown Dave....I survived it!!!! and I am from SoCal!!

wakekat15 07-28-2009 7:42 PM

Geri - I don't know if you launched from "that" ramp. We rode on Clear Lake, but started at Irene's house. Or, have you been sneaking over there without me?! All the way from SoCal...lol!

rnopr8 07-28-2009 7:44 PM

No...remember? I got sort of lost and ended up at a gas station in the hood....I was so scared but acted like I knew exactly where I was...lol
I felf safe once I got to her house

rnopr8 07-28-2009 7:46 PM

yea....I am good at sneakin in the hood from socal..

clearlakeirene 07-29-2009 3:33 PM

Kat and Geri - Thanks for defending my hood (at least by my house) Clear lake rocks!
David - I love having the public ramp in the DEEP CENTER of the hood!!! Keeps ya'll off my lake
Kat - I will be working during the day that Friday I'm sure, unless I get a case of the 24 hour flu :-). But I would love to ride if you are out in the evening. Feel free to use my boat that day, or if you are bringing yours I'll get you into our 'super secret safe ramp'.
Geri - you weren't supposed to tell Kat you've been sneaking out to Orlando to ride with me while she's away! ;-)
Nedge- just curious what doc did you wrong at Orlando Ortho if you are willing to tell? Sorry you had such a bad experience with them. I don't work there, I'm just familiar with alot of their docs, some of which i am sure leave something to be desired, but some of which are very good.

xistential 07-29-2009 5:28 PM

"Dr Schwartzburg at Orlando Orthopedics"

I took Nicola to see him last year.He specialises in knees and sees a LOT of wakeboarders. There were pics up all over the place of big name wakeboarders that he has treated.

wakekat15 07-29-2009 5:32 PM

Thanks, Chris! He's obviously honest, as he didn't coax you into having Nicola undergo an unnecessary surgery!

See you at Worlds!

duffy 07-29-2009 5:36 PM

Kat,

That will be sweet,I have never rode behind a SAN. I can bring my boat as well for some good ole chase pics!

Irene, I will also defend your hood even though I almost was raped last weekend leaving your house! LOL!

clearlakeirene 07-29-2009 6:22 PM

Duffy - When you stood on the street corner in your speedo with a sign that said "will work for pulls," what did you think was gonna happen? Don't go blaming the hood, blame your sexiness!

mayor_h 07-29-2009 6:53 PM

Irene, Dr.(?) Rosen. flat out lied to me. wanted me to undergo unnecessary surgery. it had to have been that phat insurance plan i have from the state of florida, made him see $$$. I can give you the details at Theo's wake sanctuary saturday if your interested.

rnopr8 07-29-2009 7:00 PM

Hey Irene....sorry, I blew my own cover!! Your place was awesome...I loved your street and the canal in the back....and we had such a sweet day on the water!!!

clearlakeirene 07-29-2009 7:17 PM

Ned - I am definitely familiar with Dr Rosen. We can chat more about that. See ya Saturday!
Geri - Thanks, and we loved having you! Can't wait to ride with you again :-)

mayor_h 07-29-2009 7:43 PM

Irene, are you gonna wanna wear my funny hat ?
Stoked to see you on saturday !
Wildkat, i mean Wakekat, are you in town ? you should come over to Theos !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

clearlakeirene 07-29-2009 7:51 PM

Not so sure what the funny hat is, but sure why not!!!

mayor_h 07-30-2009 10:57 AM

duffy 07-30-2009 1:05 PM
