Drone wakeboard filming!

I have been flying the phantom 2 for a couple months now and am starting to get the hang of it, let me know what you guys think!

Freaking awesome!!

Griggs24 09-30-2014 6:27 PM

Killing it! Awesome video.

501s 09-30-2014 7:07 PM

That video was crazy! Sorry but my description also has to include the word awesome!

Riding, editing, filming were all top notch.

MCObray 09-30-2014 7:50 PM

I like how you play it down in the description. Hands down the best video I have seen all year, as far as perspective. Those shots were out of this world. Great edit J.B.!

dvsone79 09-30-2014 8:35 PM

"Starting to get the hang of it" = huge understatement. If you can produce 30+ minutes of that, you've got a film many would pay $ to own.

nuckledragger 09-30-2014 9:14 PM

Great work. The drones are taking filming to a whole new level, not only in wake but across the board.

This is not a knock just a question....why can you see the propeller blades in a few shots? The only reason I ask is that I have never noticed them before in drone videos. Is it the angle of the shot? A flatter angle versus looking straight down?

fly135 10-01-2014 5:56 AM

That was really cool!

jonblarc7 10-01-2014 6:36 AM

WOW is all I can say!!!!!!!!

allzway 10-01-2014 6:36 AM

Very cool and nice job... Makes me want to buy a drone.

iShredSAN 10-01-2014 6:37 AM

Holy cow that was awesome!!! You are very talented bro! Are you flying it from the boat mainly or what?

boardjnky4 10-01-2014 6:47 AM

Such a sick video. I have 3 comments questions:

1. Holy **** did I pucker up watching yall drive that boat through that creek at 1:08.
2. Is this a gopro attached to the drone or is it a phantom 2 vision?
3. SICK riding, keep the edits coming and keep doing what y'all are doing!

tracktor 10-01-2014 9:26 AM

I use mine to film MX. I am curious it looks like you are using an FPV system? ALso, what camera settings are you using for filming? That's something I have been struggling with.

You usually only get props in the shot when the drone is accelerating heaving in one direction or another and the gimble is compensating heavily for lean........

srock 10-01-2014 11:02 AM

Nice edit and video. How hard is it to fly these drones? Can you easily loose control and put it in the water?

gnarslayer 10-01-2014 11:08 AM

Thanks a ton guys!

It is filmed with a gopro hero 3 Black
Settings: Medium View 1080 at 60 fps
DJI Phantom 2 from dronefly. I fly in ATTI mode for maximum speed

The props get in the shot sometimes when I am low and the camera is pointing straight. The lean of the chopper when going fast plus the gimbal lets the blades barely get in there.

But ya thanks again guys, I should have a few more clips coming out this year. :)

andy_nintzel 10-01-2014 12:48 PM

SICK! No teach someone else how to fly the thing so they can get some footage of you ripping!

canucked 10-01-2014 3:08 PM

wowzers!!

spencercoon 10-01-2014 5:05 PM

SOOOO good!

Pad1Tai 10-01-2014 5:52 PM

Kane 10-01-2014 11:24 PM

Epic, thanks for sharing.

pipeboarder 10-01-2014 11:47 PM

gnarslayer 10-02-2014 11:02 AM

thanks again guys.

I used FCP 7

Im working on teaching a friend to fly, but I just dont know if its worth the risk to let them chase me.

Thanks for the answers. Are you using an FPV screen? I am thinking I gotta kick down for one other wise you have to use the widescreen mode to catch any footage. The downside is everything looks far away.............

Grimm 10-31-2014 5:54 PM

Too flippin cool!

VinnyA 10-31-2014 10:57 PM

Wicked sick!

JayManAR 11-01-2014 8:08 AM

Amazing.

jdiaz78 11-02-2014 8:16 PM

Very nice video

quik876 11-03-2014 11:33 AM

Saw this a couple weeks ago and thought it was REALLY good. Almost like getting in with a full camera set up from a helicopter only it looks like you can get in there a little tighter/closer with the drone. is that a 6 rotor? or is it one with more? The edit was really good as well, I read another post where you said you used a gopro hero 3 black edition. NICE I'm anxious to try the gopro hero 4 silver edition I pulled the trigger on and bought a couple of weeks.

Bumpass1 11-03-2014 5:30 PM

I think the edit is great too. My question is how hard is the drone fly. I've been toying with the idea of buy a phantom, but unsure if I should drop the coin if the learning curve is really steep

jww 11-03-2014 5:43 PM

easy to fly... i flew a vision+ last week for the first time, it was amazingly simple...

kenv 11-04-2014 6:59 PM

Are you in the boat flying it?? or another boat behind?

boardcrazy 11-04-2014 7:14 PM

Bad Ass! I would love to have one and the ability to fly it so I could capture some footage like you have done. Oh, and it would be nice to have riders with the talent you have in your video. Great Work!

King12 11-08-2014 8:39 AM

So dope, video game kind of angles. Love the way it looks when you get super close at the peak of their air, such a crazy angle.

King12 11-08-2014 8:12 PM

If you can let someone chase you PLEASE throw a BS 313 on film for us. Pretty sure I saw a taunt about considering it in a thread forever ago.

fullspeed 11-09-2014 6:14 PM

https://www.airdog.com/

This is not in production yet I don't think, but th is one follows you automatically. Special water proof wristband, programmable distances and angles of shots. Pretty much makes you a pro-video taker right out the box.

VinnyA 09-22-2017 1:50 PM

lol, nice to have this thread bumped though I really dig JB's drone edit

downfortheride 09-28-2017 7:44 AM

Those are some really good shots! I've seen them before but I think the tighter shot looks amazing! WTH is that boat flying through a canal?
