360 with fins?
Quick question...maybe someone can help me out. I've got a Phase 5 Diamond with the single fin in the back. Looks like it's about an inch and a half..maybe 2". Can't measure it because it's at the lake. My daughter has a Phase 5 Luv with a smaller single fin...maybe 1". I'm trying to do a 360 for the first time. Is the fin on the Diamond too big to do the 360 or do I need a smaller fin like the Luv has??? I see everyone whipping the skim boards around doing surface 360s and all...but wasn't sure if they have the "stock" fin that comes on the board or do they go smaller?? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks David. I'll give it another go. I looked on the Phase 5 site under the fins and it appears I probably have the 2" that came stock. It's just that I was watching a lot of videos of the Phase 5 guys and other surfers on other brands and seems like there is barely a fin back there at all. I'll post back when I nail my first Shuv 360....LOL...

I have a 2" fin on a Phase 5 prop and it can break loose to spin 360s no problem. If you're having trouble getting the board to break loose, then try putting more weight on your front foot when you start the rotation

Thanks Jason. I'll give that a try if we head out this weekend. Supposed to be some nice weather here in South Texas.

I've got an inland surfer with two 5" fins and I can't get it to break lose enough to spin. Curious if it should spin? I currently us my Volt for spins

I can initiate a spin on my Doomswell Nubstep with a pair of Futures F2 thruster fins on it. They're over 4" tall. I haven't rode out a 360 yet, but I've done plenty where I get my full rotation in.
So I don't think your single 2" fin is keeping you from doing anything. |
I can spin the 360 on a custom Walker Project with the quad finzers. The fins don't prevent you from spinning once they break away.

Thanks guys for all the feedback. Rode my Diamond with the fin...can do the spin but just can't ride it out yet. More practice for me!!!
