Mounting an onboard battery charger in a 17 Malibu MXZ

Just bout a Promariner 8 onboard charger to install in my 2017 22 MXZ. Installing looks simple. It comes with 60” cables but you can purchase extensions. The install instructions say to mount it as far away from the batteries as possible and to not mount over carpet. Suggestions on mounting locations and any other thoughts would be appreciated.

I would suggest placing it under one of the side seats and mounting to a seat base wall. I have seen them mounted under the rear port side seat cushion.

You can do this. Find a dry location that has lots of air flow. Don’t mount it where you keep wet jackets or towels or where it gets wet. Becasue when you turn it on it creates heat and can draw in moisture. Also you don’t wanna have items rested up against it. The charger when it’s going needs or should have air flow around it.

I would make a mount plate for it. Get a 1/2 thick piece of ABS and cut out the carpet and glue the ABS to your Hull. This will be the mount for where the charger mounts. Then you can screw the charger into the ABS.

Sorry I don’t have a better pic of my charger and how it’s mounted.

Here is a couple pics of the one we installed in our last boat. It's in a centurion fi23 but should still give you the idea.
