G25 vs Moomba Mojo 2.5

So I just back from a demon on a nautique G25 and a moomba mojo 2.5. Both had outstanding wakeboard wakes and the nautique beat out the moomba by a little in the surfing. Just wanted a little input on the decision of buying. They are both 2014 and the price difference is immense. Moomba 51k nautique 105k. Although I will be trading in and getting about 24k off. The only thing is that I will be taking the boat to college in 3 years and it would be a hassle to carry around the nautique. I understand that the nautique is a huge step up quality wise but I will be wakeboarding mostly and doing some surfing. My dad and I are have a hard time justifying the price of the nautique but love the boat. We love the price of the moomba but don't know if we love the boat. And I guess we were just wondering if the moomba is a good buy or not and if it is cheap. Thanks!

Is this a joke??????? You are talking about should I buy a Kia 2 door or a Mercedes Full size SUV. There really is no way to compare those 2 boats and the prices alone show that. Are these new boats? I ask because 51K on a MOJO is a smoking deal and 105K on a G25 is not only smoking but unheard of. You can't buy a G21 for that.

Let me know when you pass as at those prices I think you can buy and resell and make 5-10K really quick.

115k on the g25 typo my fault

First, its all about the wake.. if you like the Mojo Wake theres nothing wrong with the Moomba. The Moomba is not cheap, its simple ;-). The only thing i'm missing on the Moomba is a automatic Surf system.

The G25 is the boat if you need a lot of space, if not.. well, then i think a G23 or G21 is the better option.

keep looking mate, there is about 20 boats that sit in between these two choices

I don't think that is a fair comparison. The Mojo is not a small boat. I think this is more like a Ford Expedition XLT vs a load Cadillac Escalade long version (forgot what the suburban sized one was called).

Buy 2 mojos. 1 for college. 1 for home

The biggest, most expensive wake boat made versus one of the best "value" wake boats. It really depends on how rich you are. If you got the cash, buy the G. If your not loaded Mojo all the way. It's not like a person can stick roll to blinds or 9's off a G wake but only land 180s behind a mojo, both boats have great wakes. The Moomba will in no way hold back your riding.

Sounds like money is not a problem for you. Buy them both!

phathom 10-27-2014 10:26 AM

Having ridden a 2014 G25 and also been in and ridden a newer Mondo, and regularly ride a 2008 XLV. I can say that they both have great seating layouts. They both put out decent wakes. You are definitely going to get more bells and whistles and some better build quality on the G25 than you will on the Mojo.
Personally, if I had the money and a G25 was an option, I would go for it. If it was a bit of a stretch, I would just pay the $25kish upgrade after trade in and get the Mojo.
Have you looked at some other boats between those two pricepoints? MB makes a really decent boat as does Supreme if you're more surf centric. How about if you like the skiers choice brand and the Mondo, maybe look at a Supra if you want higher build quality but not as big of a price tag as the G25.

What are you trading up from? That can make a difference too. If the Mojo would be a huge step up anyway, why not? If it'd be a step down, probably not. If it'd be a lateral trade off in quality, then it could go either way.

Buy the moomba and use the rest for beer money in college.

I would stick to the mojo and save some money

loudelectronics 10-27-2014 10:33 AM

Quite the variance in boat choice.

Here is what I tell people when buying. It sucks having a boat payment in the winter when not using. It sucks even more having a boat payment on a boat that you are not truly happy with.

Get the boat that you are proud to own as the payments will never be a burden. If it puts a smile on your face even thinking about it then you know you made the right choice.

Heck I just want to know where this $48K brand new 2014 Mojo 2.5 is. Thats like 15-20K below any other one I see online, for that I'd like to take a look!!

I've been giving this a lot of thought and I think you should buy a Mastercraft X-star. Custom painted with barbwire. It would just give the world a nice synergy.

Don't forget skulls. It needs to have barbed wire wrapped around the skull. JC style.

Ewok01 11-03-2014 4:40 PM

And "assault rifle" outlines, lots of AKs and M4 silhouettes criss crossing under and around the skulls.
