What is the wakesetter? Is it a part on the boat?

malibuboats4 01-14-2009 6:42 PM

hahahahaha.... no, wakesetter is not part of the boat. it is just the model name. like "suburban" or "camry".

westlake_waker 01-14-2009 6:43 PM

So what makes it a wakeboard boat?

kenv 01-14-2009 7:10 PM

VDrive & Tower.....oh and of course...Malibu Marketing Dept.

cooper 01-14-2009 10:13 PM

he's yanking your chain. The wakesetter includes a stock tower, stock ballast, electronic multi-function switches, and a stereo just to name a few standard features on the wakesetters. With the sunsetters you'd have to ad for the tower, ballast, ect. The VTX is the 20' model.

gherk 01-15-2009 12:42 AM

It's definitely a wakeboard boat. They built the hull the throw a wake, V-drive, added the wedge, tower, etc.. It's certainly not a crossover boat or a ski boat.

malibudude 01-15-2009 7:59 AM

The wakesetter originally used to be simply a package that contained stickers, tower, ballast, and wedge starting in '99. In 2002 the Sunsetter LX (direct drive)became the Wakesetter then morphed into the I-ride ('05-'08).

wakeride26 01-15-2009 10:36 AM

The Wakesetter does not come standard with a stereo..... Just FYI

buguru 01-15-2009 11:12 AM

Malibudude~ <BR> <BR>You forgot that the direct drive I-ride was a sunkicker also.. <BR> <BR>Bret is correct on the stereo...

bobby_and_mikey_dad 01-18-2009 7:34 PM

The VTX has an awesome Ski wake, The best of any v-drive! I would say it's in the 3-3 1/2" range, fully acceptable. Paul you should check one out.

malibudude 01-20-2009 5:24 PM

The VTX can be ordered on the diamond hull for an improved slalom wake. The downside is that you can't get the underfloor ballast. While the VTX is exceptional for a vdrive it's certainly not something to take thru the course, leave that to a true slalom boat... <IMG SRC="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/happy.gif" ALT=":-)" BORDER=0>

wakeride26 01-22-2009 9:28 AM

You CAN order a VTX with diamond hull and have the in floor ballast. It is called a wakestter with a diamond hull. I just verified on our dealer order site.

buguru 01-22-2009 10:51 AM

The Diamond Hull on the Vtx is now sanctioned for the course. SO you can have thee best all around boat on the water..<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/proud.gif" border=0>

Buguru-Don't see it on the website? <BR> <BR>"Towboats approved for AWSA competitions in 2009 are: Correct Craft 196 (with or without Hydro-Gate), Correct Craft 206 (with or without Hydro-Gate), Malibu Response LXi, Malibu Response FXi, MasterCraft Pro Star 190, MasterCraft ProStar 197, MasterCraft ProStar 214, MasterCraft 214V and Moomba Outback."

buguru 01-22-2009 2:20 PM

I will see if I can get a copy of it?

trentj6930 01-22-2009 7:39 PM

From what I could find the Malibu Sunscape 20 LSV has been certified. This is the same basic boat as the VTX before the wakesetter package. I am sure that Buguru can find the documentation. I am fairly sure the 2007 VTX was certified for Class C tournaments only. That is the same as the Correct Craft SV 211

westlake_waker 01-27-2009 8:09 PM

What is the correct length of rope for a intermediate wakeboarder?

wakeboardertj 01-27-2009 8:45 PM

intermediate meaning a couple inverts? <BR> <BR>probably 65 <BR> <BR>(Message edited by wakeboardertj on January 27, 2009)

Westlake - get a good wakeboarding rope and handle. They are very different from Ski ropes. Find an 85 footer that has a couple of sections at the end with a 65 foot mainline, so you can use the 65 for now, then as you progress, you can add on the rest. <BR> <BR>Also - with a good handle you don't need gloves like with a ski handle. <BR> <BR>And don't worry about skiing behind the VTX, it is excellent for a recreational skier.

juniorhawk 01-28-2009 10:25 AM

What's the code for quoting someone on here? <BR> <BR>Because: <BR>Ken's statement/answer of what makes it a wakeboarding boat being "Malibu Marketing Dept" is exactly right. <BR> <BR>(Message edited by juniorhawk on January 28, 2009)

The Malibu Marketing and Sales Team loves to stretch the truth on everything they do. <BR> <BR>Once again claiming a boat is an approved tournament boat when there is no proof to back that up. According to the USA Waterski website and after speaking with Brandon Wolf at USA Waterski, that claim is a lie. Let's just focus on claiming the only approved tournament boat built by Malibu at this time is the Response LXi and FXi. Note those are world record capable boats and can be used in any class c or class r tournament just like the MCs, CCs, and Moomba listed on the approved towboat sheet updated as of 11/5/08. <BR> <BR>In the future, let's just stick to the truth. It will do us all some good! <BR> <BR><!--attachment: 2009ApprovedTournamentTowboats-663779.pdf*mime_pdf.gif*application/pdf*63.3*Upload*2009ApprovedTournamentTowboats%2ep df --><center><table border=1><tr><td><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/icons/mime_pdf.gif" align=left alt="application/pdf">Upload<br><a href="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/2009ApprovedTournamentTowboats-663779.pdf" target="_blank"><b>2009ApprovedTournamentTowboats. pdf</b></a> (63.3 k)</td></tr></table></center><!--/attachment-->
