The only cove on the lake is now no wake zone. This is the government controlling every thing we do. We are moving closer and closer to a socialistic government every day. Fight the machine

stevev210 04-04-2009 11:14 PM

That sucks, sometimes thats the only place to board when its windy.

azwaker 04-05-2009 8:07 AM

If we sit idle it will never change. Everyone must voice an opinion and let the fish and game know we are not in agreement. Even the fishermen don't like it.

blm 04-05-2009 8:32 AM

You have got to be kidding!? Who do we contact about this? Absolutely ridiculous. Best place to teach anyone on that lake

wswb4lfe 04-05-2009 1:00 PM

Exactly im in az the no wake seems to get bigger every time i go out!! it's rediculouse how much of the majority is no wake zone.

stokemetercom 04-05-2009 1:22 PM

When did this happen? I was up there a few months ago and the entrance was no wake, but the cove wasn't.

wswb4lfe 04-05-2009 1:40 PM

It really seems to happen over night. Bartlett isnt affected as bad

azwaker 04-05-2009 8:13 PM

I asked the guy if it was just the entrance, which, I could understand. He told me no, the entire cove. He said some guy got a ticket for it.

stokemetercom 04-06-2009 5:06 AM

That sucks! I don't see how that makes sense at all. That cove is huge. There must be some fisherman who has some serious pull. I wonder if this is something that could be petitioned.

azwaker 04-08-2009 8:19 AM

Spoke with the forest service dept which controls this on 4/8/09 yes the whole cove is a no wake zone. If we want to make a difference everyone needs to call the forest service and complain, 928-467-3200. Also write a letter to Gary Smith
HC-02
PO Box 4800
Roosevelt, AZ 85548

The more people we get to do this the faster we maybe able to fix the problem. The compromise is may the entrance is wakeless. Everyone get on board with this the time is to act now

stokemetercom 04-10-2009 5:17 AM

I completely agree. This is something that needs to be addressed as soon as possible. Even if you are an Arizona rider that doesn't ride on Roosevelt Lake you need to take action on this as it sets a precedent for the other lakes down stream.

As AZwaker stated, ACT NOW!

azwaker 04-10-2009 7:30 AM

Here is Mr. Smith's email address pass this on to everyone you know. The more people that complain(in a positive manner) the better chance we have to get our cove back

cece 04-10-2009 10:19 AM

You forgot to include the email address. I'd suggest putting together and posting a sample email/letter. It usually helps kick start people. I agree on the ever increasing no wake zones. Even what they did to Saquaro a few years ago is insane.

Another good resource for getting the word out is Arizona Boating & Water Sports mag. They are a free publication. Jim & Carol are good about informing the public about these changes and try to help change stupid policies.

azwaker 04-10-2009 10:45 AM

Mr. Gary Smith is who to address his email is
gsmith@fs.fed.us;

w00taz 04-10-2009 11:01 AM

Did they explain why? I mean if there's been an environmental impact analysis of some sort then this is a no brainer. If it's because a bunch of fishermen are complaining and they're appeasing them that's another story.

w00taz 04-10-2009 2:12 PM

They lifted it per his email back to me.

azwaker 04-13-2009 9:22 AM

Yes he sent an email last week. The no wake zone is gone. Thanks to everyone who sent an email. We will have to keep a watch on this.
Thanks,
Todd Haft
