How underated are zapco amps,or are their ratings close to the real output?

They come birthsheet/benchtest specs when you buy them new....it'll tell you what it produces. And yes, they are generally higher than advertised

Tony- <BR>Zapco amplifiers have a very accurate rating . The problem is that we now have different methods of measuring output.so getting a clear comparison is sometimes difficult unless you understand the style of measurement. You must compare apples to apples .Every reputable manufacturer has entry level and reference style product within their line .
