Only $6100 plus pwc isn't too bad. That's a lot cheaper than those backpack water jet things we've seen around. I'd maybe be in for one if I had a bigger garage and wife that's less likely to kill me for buying more expensive toys.

And as one of the comments on the video mentioned, it seems these things make you younger and prettier like everyone in the video.

Was showing my daughter this and then looking at 2nd making of the video. I saw they rent these in San Diego, so I got my lesson/rental booked for next Thur. $149 for 30 minute and $199 for 40 minutes (10 of which is instruction). It's $49 off for the 1st 100 people if you from their facebook page.

I've seen it, it looks expensive for what it is and that it would likely get boring. I can see it being a niche thing for people with extra money that want something different. I have no idea how hard it is on your water sport with the machine sitting still while all the water is going to the suit. What can I say, it's not my thing.

let us know how it goes brett. i'd be interested in trying it out up at Folsom

I could see a few impact accidents underwater happening in shallow water and causing a drowning. Kinda hard to see underwater without a mask of some kind. A lot of people have died kiteboarding from hitting solid objects. I watched someone fly over the beach a couple weeks ago in the Mediterranean trying to show off.

For underwater I have a scooter that tows me along just fine...for above water there are lots of options.

So I finally got around to doing this thing today. It was fun. If I already had a pwc, I'd probably buy one. It'd be great to have another water sport that you can do regardless of water conditions and even in 5mph/no wake zones. I'd definitely recommend trying it if you get the chance. Here's a little video from today:

Seeing the video puts it in non biased perspective. Doesn't look like something I'd drop money in to do. If it was cheaper to rent, maybe do when you're on vacation or something. Maybe if they set something up like this in Vegas as a tourist attraction like indoor bungie jumping or something it might catch on, but only as a niche thing.

Under water... what about the lard ass or the drunk that snaps his /her neck on the surface trying to emulate what these guys are doing? This reminds me of the flying tube or the wake kite. Both ended with morons killing themselves...

Hoverboard version...

looks fun to try or do once, but over and over again? not for me.

pesos 06-25-2014 6:26 PM

These guys make it look easy but I imagine it takes a good while to get to that level.

Am I the only one who is thinking that one of these times doing these flips and stuff that the hose is going to wrap around someones neck and end this all really quickly?

TomH 06-27-2014 6:36 AM

With the diameter of that hose, there's no way it would bend a small enough radius to constrict someone's neck. So there's a chance you could tangle up in it but not of getting choked out. It's the power dive into the water that might kill you if you drive your head into a rock or the bottom..... Looks fun to try though

Or you could smear yourself into the jetski?
