Board shorts vs. bikini bottoms

Just got "Chick Flick", love it!
Tell me girls, as I am soooo new to this sport, why do the girls wear board shorts? Is it a crashing thing? At my level of riding, I'm just glad to end the day without whiplash from catching a front edge!!

I think being able to tie boardshorts is helpful for the ladies.Bikinis can get ripped down to your ankles on a good edge catch.

sexyws6mama 07-27-2011 6:41 AM

I wear boardshorts because 1) I think it looks better 2) when I take a crash I won't have the bikini up my butt and around my ankles

Boardshorts are to shred in
Bikinis are to tan in

my teenage daughters and their friends are all required to wear board shorts if they are going to wake board. Aside from the the bikini being easily ripped off, they just look a bit to un-lady like when wake boarding for me.....

Great idea for the teenage girls to require them!
We can't protect our young girls enough!!!!

Boardshorts for me....more comfortable when riding and no unexpected peep show when something goes awry during a set.

if I fall it definitely protects the legs. I have gotten huge red marks from hitting the water even wearing the short boardshorts. Wear them! plus they look awesome! and then you will have a fun collection of them. I think I have like 30 pairs!

It's a rule on my boat that ladies must wear them.....only takes a newbie hanging out (literally) but holding on for dear life to inspire you to have such a rule. :-D

Just a quick tip. concentrate on keeping your handle low and you will be a lot less likely to catch that edge.

And my wife wears the board shorts. i would think that it offers some protection

My GF likes the neoprene shorts made by Oneill. They're slightly shorter than normal lady board shorts, and fit very snug. She also prefers a top to feel more comfortable and I assume compressed.

Majority of the girls I ride with wear boardies, all of which cite the "loss of" or "extreme gain" of their bikini bottoms on a crash

Looks like Board Shorts with a draw string would be best in turbulent areas.
