Is this a good board for a beginner. I am trying to buy a board that will be good for complete beginners. Something really stable. I am looking at one of these, but it is listed as an intermediate/advanced board. I wanted something that would be easy for people to get up and build confidence. thanks

This is my 2nd year riding my state. I learned to get up, ride, w2w all on this board. I think i rode like 3 other boards when i was learning last year and they all felt to loose to me for just learning. The state feels like i have alot more control over it.

But as everyone else says on here it is rider preference. Is there any way to demo some boards?

It is a good board and is fine for beginners... In fact, I still have my 2007 setup hardly used, and the bindings are actually brand new. I never ride it anymore, so I will sell it to you cheap if you want the State setup.

I loved my state. I started on an old hyperlite (think it was the fluid). My first year on the state I went from scuking (hardly clearing the wake) to landing my first invert. However, I think the state kept me from progressing in my toeside jumps because of that asymetric design. As soon as I left the state (for the 08 era), I was able to get much better air toeside. If I had it to do over agian, I think I would still do the same thing.
