8.1L with 800 hours
 

Does anyone on this site have any experience with the 8.1L engines? I have heard good things and bad things about them. The one I am looking at is in a Malibu 23LSV and has 800 hours on it. I know that is not too many hours but I want to make sure I am getting into something that will be reliable.

service records would be concern

Service records and exhaust risers were an issue on those but otherwise good for 2000hrs easy

I have an 8.1 and as long as you keep up with maintance, you should be fine. In know risers can be an issue, but I was told that is with mainly running in salt water..Should be fine. Great motor!
