Grabs!

Thought I would post this separate from the vlogs as it may be a bit informative. I definitely didn't know some of these grabs previously to looking at this list. Hope yall enjoy.

yeah i think this is definitely a bit off, nuclear is definitely not on the nose ha

Isn't the forbidden Lien in that pic identical to the allowed Method grab? BTW, I think forbidden grabs are still better than no grab. I started with tailfish on my backroll until i could finally get to the tail.

Method is technically the same location as melan unless you’re a European. Then you go nose.
Nuclear should be where lien is on this list and crail on the nose.
I don’t think nuclear grabs look good at all.

There’s nothing wrong with weird grabs or boot grabs when learning, good way to get down to it.

fly135 05-09-2019 6:01 AM

So Melon and Method are the same grab with two different names?

simplej 05-09-2019 6:05 AM

A method is a melan tweak. Just like a lien air is technically a frontside air with melan tweak, not what’s described above

fly135 05-09-2019 7:53 AM

Got it! Thanks for the explanation. I know what you mean about the tweak. Been trying that on the kicker but not really pulling it off that well. I thought the Lien was a Method. So now I've got to work on placing it Melan and adding the tweak.

Method is a trick. Not a grab. It's the melon grab with a shifty.

fly135 05-13-2019 6:35 AM

Just working on it yesterday at Odub off the kneebreaker. Couldn't even get close on the Unit XL, so I switched to the smaller kicker. Will try the XL again next time. And the shifty part is still not looking that great yet.

I never had it down either, but the experts always said you had to do the shifty, then go for the grab.

fly135 05-14-2019 7:56 AM

I'll try working on just the shifty for a while.

So if Crail is supposed to be on the nose, does that mean that Cobe Mikacich was doing his Crail tantrums wrong all these years?

Yup.

But that was the mid90s so we can give him a pass.

I always grab first and then boot it but that’s just me...

Gotta stick with it as long as these old bones will let me. Love riding behind the G23, and OWC has a pretty good deal on Weds.
