2015 NFL Smack Talking Thread!

Well, all other sports suck compared to pro football, so let's get this party started...

chillinoj 02-18-2015 9:10 AM

Haha very true, so is that what the new/old LA Rams are gonna be using?

wakeworld 02-18-2015 9:38 AM

I wish! Somebody did some badass mockups of all 32 teams. Most of these look sooo much better than what's currently on the field! Dolphins, Steelers and Raiders are my favorites.

hatepain 02-20-2015 12:24 PM

Almost all of them are cool except Seattle's which aside from the helmet color is virtually unchanged.

diamonddad 02-22-2015 8:35 AM

It is so true that all the other sports suck compared to football. I wish College Football was in the first half of the year and Pro Football was in the second half of the year so we could watch football all year long. Basketball is so self indulgent. Baseball is so methodical.

83Starsnstripes 02-23-2015 1:46 PM

^^I totally agree that football is the best but I'm very thankful it's not during the summer otherwise I'd have to choose between the Hawks and going to the lake. It's bad enough in Sept. & Oct.
BTW I'll be posting a picture soon of me in my favorite player's jersey. TONY ROMO IS THE BEST!!!!

The RAM helmet is hard to do poorly.

chillinoj 02-25-2015 12:14 PM

Those are pretty sick! That Steelers helmet is my fav, also stoked about the Bucs and Stars. though not a fan of any of those teams...

hatepain 03-10-2015 3:51 PM

The football year has started. Lots of big and surprising changes already this year not the least of which is Jimmy Graham to Seattle. Gonna be weird seeing him in a Hawks uniform as he's been a pretty big rival the last few years but it'll likely be fun :)

markj 03-11-2015 6:58 AM

I can't believe you guys got Graham. That's just not fair. Now you guys will actually have a passing game. Wasn't there some fighting last year between Graham and some Seattle players? That ought to be interesting.

buffalow 03-11-2015 7:32 AM

Out of all the craziness yesterday and the absolute dismantling of the 49ers, the biggest move to me is the Jimmy Graham move. He will absolutely kill it in Seattle and add one more element to already a world class team.

diamonddad 03-11-2015 10:56 AM

http://mynorthwest.com/292/2430986/M...soft-overrated

"Nobody likes Jimmy Graham. I think he's one of the softest players in the NFL," Bennett said. "I think he's overrated and I really don't like him as a person or as a player. ... When he's not in the game he's not in the game. He doesn't help on the blocking plays. I think he's just overrated."

diamonddad 03-11-2015 11:20 AM

I would relax about the 49ers...
minus Gore - ready for Hyde who is much better outside the tackles and read-option. Saves cap space too.
minus Willis - his choice - ready for Borland and Bowman. Saves cap space too.
minus Crabtree - overrated - ready for Torrey Smith.
minus Skuta - a real loss but a backup to Aldon.
minus Iupati - he sucked last year. Later.

Thanks for the reality check, GD. You forgot the missing coach. That's huge. Glad Gore is with the Colts and not the Eagles. Willis... What a class act. Agree on Crabtree. That POS Sherman was right about Crabtree.

wakeworld 03-11-2015 6:30 PM

Don't forget that you re-signed Craig Dahl, so everything should be ok!! :)

diamonddad 03-11-2015 11:07 PM

Everyone will be surprised by the 49ers. Tomsula will rise to the occasion. KAP is going to have a huge year. All we need is some OL and DB help from the draft. I am certain that they will do better than last year and at least make the playoffs.

diamonddad 03-11-2015 11:15 PM

Oddly, I am so happy Gore is gone. He was so great at running between the tackles and so bad at running outside. Defenses with cover corners knew that they could stack the box and play the run/pass. This is why the 49ers saw this from defenses that had corners that could cover our slow receivers man-on-man. Further, Gore hated the read-option which is KAP's bread and butter. So, things will really be looking up with 1) read-option, 2) a back that runs outside, and 3) recievers with break away speed.

onlyinboards 03-12-2015 7:35 AM

Chiefs get some help at the receiver position with Maclin

^^^ That's funny. I'm kind of disappointed in the fall of the 49ers because the Rams won't get as much credit when they win the division now. I kind of like having all teams in our division being in the top tier of the NFL. It's going to suck that there are only three of us now! :)

The RAMs are 4th to last in playoff drought...

wakeworld 03-12-2015 11:37 AM

So you're saying we're due?

diamonddad 03-12-2015 11:49 AM

Yes, the team seems a lot better than that record.

ord27 03-12-2015 1:45 PM

Murray to the eagles

what the heck is going on......

Redheadd 03-12-2015 3:03 PM

Rams no running game and mediocre recievers. So how they gonna score?

Money. 5 years 41 million with 21 million guaranteed.

hatepain 03-16-2015 7:54 PM

This might be one of the craziest years in Free Agency. Lots of big moves awemi gky everywhere. The sad thing is the still young players retiring because of injury's and concussions. This could become a real big problem for the NFL.

Redheadd 03-16-2015 8:30 PM

^only the smart ones. But then again in borelands instance he plays for free his whole life now he quits right when he's about to get paid?

markj 03-16-2015 10:05 PM

So bummed to hear about Borland. The Niners tailspin continues...

diamonddad 03-17-2015 1:05 AM

Can't really blame this on the 49ers. That's a weird decision. He has had 2 concussions in his life outside of the NFL. He should have played until his first concussion and quit the day after.

hatepain 03-17-2015 7:05 AM

I didn't even know Borland was retiring until this morning. Sad deal but CTE is a scary thing.

hatepain 03-17-2015 7:15 AM

I watched this a year or so ago. Its s really good documentary on concussions in the NFL.http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontl...gue-of-denial/

seattle 03-30-2015 12:55 PM

Poor poor Dave... We live in a new world where the Hawks are the most dominant team in the NFL and the Rams are a relic from days gone by. Who woulda predicted it? Oops, wait... I did all those years ago. :D

Gonna hand the St Louis fairy helmets a brutal loss at home for their start of the season...

I don't see our schedule as that bad this year. Green Bay is probably our toughest road game. That bodes well considering we'll be healthy and our D will simply overwhelm Rodgers and co when we are firing on all cylinders.

chillinoj 04-23-2015 7:30 PM

So is Winston the next johnny football or cam newton? I'm sure glad I'm not in tampa's shoes...

deuce 04-30-2015 8:24 PM

Hope that gamble for Shane Ray pays off? The picks and Ram don't bother me, but? With Miller, Ware and Ray...good God they are going to get after the QB...

rt360 05-01-2015 6:07 AM

I wonder if Darrin had his draft day jersey on?

Aldon Smith. What a waste of talent.

You like to party and you make $10 million a year and you don't hire a driver?

3 DUIs arrests
Weapons arrest
Airport "bomb" arrest.

2015 will bring zero sacks as he will not be playing.

diamonddad 08-09-2015 2:31 PM

Eli Manning and Matt Ryan seem overrated.

meathead65 08-09-2015 3:57 PM

Kaep over Cam Newton?

I think David Carr might surprise some folks too.

diamonddad 08-09-2015 8:24 PM

CAM has not done anything. KAP has had two good season and one bad season.

I am rooting for a good year for KAP but the 49ers need to stop loosing great defensive players (Willis, Smith, Smith, Borland).

seattle 08-10-2015 9:44 AM

Last night's game got the football bug going again. ;)

bbr 08-10-2015 2:15 PM

Bring on the football season! I have been waiting for this since the Patriots had the Superbowl handed to them on the last play of the game.

CAM is just another bust. We couldn't catch a break if it hit us in the face. Every year now I get to decide which team I'll pull for in the postseason since ain't no damn way we are getting anywhere. I miss the moose and smith days

Nice to see them win a game at the end though even if it was preseason, refreshing to know it's possible.

I must admit, we really don't have a chance as long as the Seahawks have a corner on the nano bubbles market! :p:p:p

Since this thread always boils down to week to week picks, why don't we have a wakeworld pick em' league instead of a fantasy league this year? Then we can see who really knows their stuff.

I'll set it up if anyone wants in and maybe David could toss a t-shirt to the champ as well?!?

chillinoj 08-31-2015 12:35 PM

cwb4me 09-11-2015 6:52 AM

The Gronk went off last night. Sorry Steelers fans. I don't think they should have let the "deflater" play but he was on the judges fantasy team.

ord27 09-11-2015 8:44 AM

....and the spygate coach should have been banned for life.

They do deserve some respect though. I'm a fan of some individual players, just not the organization

buffalow 09-11-2015 1:39 PM

Orion - Good idea but you have to include spreads. Talking about who will win when a team is favored by 10+ is just a waste of breath.

buffalow 09-11-2015 1:40 PM

Nobody touched Brady in my fantasy team so I snatched him up knowing he would be there. 4 Td's 300 yards -first game - and I thank you...

83Starsnstripes 09-12-2015 11:27 AM

As a Hawks fan, I could care less about Brady and Deflategate. The dude is a gamer and Thursday proved it, granted the Steelers have no D.

GO COWBOYS!!

diamonddad 09-12-2015 11:58 AM

SF vs VIKINGs on MNF.

Everyone and their brother predicts a pathetic 49ERs this year while I predict a young team that will be competitive on most Sundays.

Everyone cites the losses in personnel as the primary issue but I see it differently...

Harbaugh->Tomsula: the players are responding well to this change from pensive/twisted to enthusiastic/simple.

Roman->Geep: we should see a much more wide open offense with much more misdirection, screens, draws, rollouts, and read-option.

Gore->Hyde: an improvement to a much younger back who likes the read option and take runs to the outside.

Crabtree->TSmith: a huge improvement; Smith has speed; Crabtree is mediocre.

Willis->Bowman: Willis was getting old; Bowman is reborn.

Borland gone: Borland was great on runs but sucked on the pass.

ASmith gone: Aldon was hardly present for 2 years due to all the suspensions.

JSmith gone: Justin was getting old and never really recovered from his arm injury 2 years ago.

The only big concern of merit is with the Oline which was also a concern last year. But, Geep, Hyde and TSmith can help keep the defenses honest.

For Monday Night vs the Vikings, I expect a competitive game. A few break downs mixed with some big plays from 49ER newbies.

seattle 09-13-2015 9:51 AM

Times a coming Dave...

Hawks!

King12 09-13-2015 10:29 AM

cam could literally hand a ball to a receiver and the couldn't catch the damn thing. This is pathetic. Come on what's the point of even running the route when you are that wide open and can't catch the ball

wakereviews 09-13-2015 4:15 PM

Crickets

King12 09-13-2015 6:49 PM

I'm proud of them for getting something together and winning.. Granted... Jacksonville... How about those Rams

seattle 09-13-2015 7:15 PM

Rams d was every bit as effective as ours. We woke up but it was foiled by a couple really bad defensive failures. Give the Rams their due, they beat us straight up. We'll see what we're all about next week in GB.

cwb4me 09-13-2015 9:02 PM

Tony Romo is the man!!! Just ask Darren? 27 game winning drives in the 4th quarter. That's why Jason won't bet on the Cowboys. Down by 10 in the 4th quarter he drives them for a TD. In typical Cowboy fashion penalties and missed tackles allow another FG but worse yet all Dallas ' s timeouts are gone. After another bone head play by Eli to stop the clock. Tony drives them 76 yards in 1:25 for the winning TD to Witten.

Artie 09-14-2015 5:09 AM

Go pats

Couldn't agree more. Congrats to the Cowboys and my guy Tony for barely beating possibly the worst team in the NFC East in Dallas.

BTW Hawks offense is terrible and they need to pay Kam. I tip my hat to the Rams.

timmyb 09-14-2015 1:06 PM

Why can't Romo just get points during the other 3 quarter's and secure his team's win sooner?

Peyton only scored 19 points all game. You're asking me why Tony can only score 27? Romo 36 of 45 for 356 yards and 3 TD'S . Peyton an impressive 24 of 40 for 175 and NO TD's. His brother Eli was 20 of 36 for 190 and 0 TD'S also. Both Manning ' s combined threw for 9 more yards than Romo, but at least Peyton got a win.

Nothing makes that non-stop flight home from Surf Expo sweeter than watching the Rams take out the Seachickens just before getting on board!! I thought they were doomed when my Rams hat blew off and sunk to the bottom of Lake Jessamine when we were shooting Meagan Ethel, but the Rams pulled it off anyway. I almost want the 49ers to win tonight just so that Seattle can be in last place all alone!!
