We got a chance to really put my 2013 X-30 with the 6.0 to the test this past week. Its mostly known as a surf boat, but it puts out a pretty decent wakeboard wake too. It can take a fair amount of weight without washing out, and you still don't have to go super fast.

Got it loaded up with about 4k plus 6 people. This boat loves the weight in the rear. Most pics were taken at 22.5, and riding 65-70ft. Some before and after weight pics and some screen shots of the wake. I have the Acme 15x12 prop and it was no problem getting around with all this weight, and the boat is getting better fuel economy too, about 4-5 Gallons per hour.

Oh and here is a shot of a double up I JUST missed. I had no business messing with a D-up this size.

polarbill 09-16-2013 7:48 PM

Damn LW. That looks huge.

wakebordr11 09-16-2013 7:56 PM

Surfing is an evolutionary process. Once you've had a few surgeries from wake boarding, you're done with the hard pounding on your body but still want to be out there. Surfing is that medicine. All of you naysayers/surf haters out there will be there sooner than you think. Mark my words...

The 24Ve required a lot of list, but made for some fun pictures like that. The Z3 doesn't list much at all and has about 5 inches more freeboard. Its always fun to step on the swim deck and get your knees wet. ;-)

axxxiswake 09-27-2013 6:35 AM

Thats insane

501s 09-27-2013 7:15 AM

It's funny, the FIRST line of the thread was " want to see some boats slammed with weight for wakeboarding!"

I bet most of the people who posted in this thread still surf on occasion, but the purpose of the thread was heavily weighted boats FOR wakeboarding and pics of big wakeboard wakes. Than a guy posts pics of his surf wave and a few people say that it doesn't excite him. If someone had started a thread about surf waves I doubt anyone would have felt the need to post pics of their wakeboard wakes. I have to say that seeing someone do a 2 foot Indy air doesn't get me pumped to ride like seeing someone do a indy BS180 10 feet up and 20 feet into the flats. Just watch the video of Shawn and Bob for reference.

DatTexasBoy 09-27-2013 7:35 AM

Yeah I think LITLLE ZIMME got his feelings hurt.

A little reading comprehension goes a long way ;)

I almost posted pics of my family Tige slammed for surfing - deeper than that 24V haha but I figured I'd get some flack as it wasn't wakeboarding related, so I didn't post :)

Iceberg 09-27-2013 8:02 AM

Of course, it could have been posted in the WAKEBOARDING section instead of this section.

ragboy 09-30-2013 7:05 PM

The title didn't say, and this is not the WB section, I def can now see the fine print, but I think its fair to say I wasn't trying to troll or trash anyone's thread. In this section and with that title, seemed like it was all good to me. I love many of these pics, surf or not, fun to see.

I want to see this boat get on plane, that is a great shot.

ralph 09-30-2013 8:24 PM

Well boohoo. If you don't like looking at wakesurf photos then avert your eyes for a couple of posts. Can't believe how many people revel in killing someone else's stoke for being on the water.

cwb4me 10-01-2013 7:20 AM

The thread is about slammed boats. All the boats pictured above are slammed. Enough said! Stop whining like 5 year olds.

Iceberg 10-01-2013 12:09 PM

With the boat that low in the water, you pretty much need no wind, no wave action and have the lake all to yourself!

bcrider 10-01-2013 12:48 PM

With the last couple boats that low how do they even run well. If I slam my DD that much I get water coming up the exhaust and the boat starts to fart and pop when you go to hit the throttle.

They run fine it just takes some skill from the driver! Theres only one other boat i've seen thats worse which was an old direct drive Tige but i cant seem to find the photo.

10-03-2013 6:16 AM

I am glad to see that I am not the only person on here that in lieu of ballast tanks/ bags that by simply removing the drain plug the same affect is accomplished....

Iceberg 10-09-2013 6:57 PM

Empty, 4500lbs and 22,5 mph. Lots of freeboard. I doubt anyone will use this much ballast except to surf!

The wake it self is not rolling over its the prop wash. To run that much weight in that boat going to need to speed up from 22.5 might have to move 23.5 -24. The prop wash will roll over the top of the wake if you don't. And you can play with the plate to help knock down the wash.

Doesn't matter how big a wake is unless it's clean imo.

I disagree. Follow the wake back, it is curling on itself.

The answer to the question of people needing 4500# ballast and won't use it - you don't use the max ballast in the Epic during wakeboarding - not because you don't need a wake that big, but because the wake does not hold up at reasonable wakeboard speeds with the stock ballast fully loaded - as proof in that image.

lol at paxdad

501s 10-10-2013 12:01 PM

What's the point of building a boat and equipping it with that much ballast and not being able to use it? And the Epic is like 1000 lighter than most other 23 footers too. Why not design the hull to be ABLE to handle all the weight?

MIKEnNC 11-28-2013 6:28 AM

I just don't understand how u keep from pouring in water if someone falls and u have to turn around or come off the throttle,,,,,, seems like its about a bottle of water from sinking

Dmac420sj 11-28-2013 6:40 AM

When you let off and the lake monster comes rolling up give it a Lil bump and turn let the monster spin the boat around then throttle through the second roller and your good to go!
